Every year we release new data analyzing how hotel costs, safety levels and other factors are changing in major cities within the U.S. and across the world. The goal is to make it easier for event planners to compare, contrast and choose the right destination that meets the unique needs of their groups. There’s a lot of Internet chatter these days about up and leaving the US. But what I see less of is discussion around how to actually choose a place to move. Is it enough to say you “just want to leave the US”? Personally, I don’t think it is. A lot of people are surprised when I talk about the amount of soul-searching involved in moving abroad, but it’s true. When my wife and I were planning to move away from Miami, we had our reasons for leaving. But we also had specific reasons for moving to Madrid, as opposed to, say, Barcelona, or Paris. Personally, we chose Madrid because of network of travel options to the rest of Spain and Europe, the Latino influence, and the endless cultural opportunities. And we didn’t plan to stay as long as we have; taking the time to choose thoughtfully resulted in us truly falling in love with Madrid. Part of the reason we love it is because of our great apartment. This well-located home base allows us to indulge in the digital nomad lifestyle while remaining something to come home to. If you’re considering a move abroad, one of the most important (and fun!) planning elements is deciding where exactly you’re going to live. If you have your sights set on Spain but maybe haven’t settled on a region, then I encourage you to attend an online event organized by Tanne Crosby, FSA, MAAA at Crosby&Millan about the basics of purchasing a property in Spain, specifically, the Spanish Costa del Sol. One of the biggest challenges as a prospective expat is assessing the correctness of the advice you’re being given, and I’m pleased to be able to support prospective expats by connecting them with a trusted source for purchasing real estate in a beautiful region of my adopted country. 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐍𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐡 𝐂𝐨𝐚𝐬𝐭: 𝐀 𝐕𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐚 𝐍𝐞𝐰 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐂𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐞-𝐏𝐞𝐫𝐟𝐞𝐜𝐭 Insights from a comprehensive feasibility study delivered by respected Urbis Consulting on behalf of Destination North Coast highlight the far reaching game-changing potential of a new Convention and Exhibition Centre for the region. Currently, there’s a significant gap in business event infrastructure between the Gold Coast and Newcastle. Establishing this facility will position the North Coast as a national player in the lucrative business events sector. Domestic overnight conference visitors to NSW spend an average of $517 per night—133% more than leisure visitors, bringing substantial benefits to the North Coast visitor economy.  The report identifies four promising locations with two being in Coffs Harbour and one each in Ballina and Port Macquarie. Each option shows strong potential for economic impact, with estimates ranging up to $284 million. Key Insights: * National Leadership Potential: A facility for up to 1,200 delegates would attract high-profile events previously out of reach. * Job Creation: The facility could create up to 146 jobs during construction and 272 jobs once operational.
