How Does Fish Adapt To Hypoxic Conditions? Research using cDNA microarray studies has shown that fish exposed to hypoxia undergo significant changes in gene expression. These changes are aimed at optimising oxygen uptake, improving oxygen distribution, and adjusting metabolic energy balance. For example, genes involved in glycolysis are upregulated, while those associated with energy consumption are suppressed. These genetic responses are thought to be regulated by mechanisms similar to those in mammals, involving the hypoxia-inducible factor (HIF) pathway. HIF-1A Is a Transcription factor that activates genes needed to compact hypoxia. https://lnkd.in/g2N46Qek #fish #fisheries #hypoxia #geneexpressions
