🌊 An Unexpected National Geographic Moment in the Galápagos 🌊 During our Lindblad expedition on the stunning Islander II, we found ourselves in one of the most extraordinary places on Earth—the Galápagos Islands. We hadn’t planned to do the final snorkel of the day. Instead, we opted for the glass-bottom zodiac—a relaxing way to wind down. The water was crystal clear, and while we saw some fish, the usual underwater activity seemed oddly quiet, even surprising our naturalist. Back at the ship, as we stepped off the zodiac, a naturalist casually said, “Five minutes until the last snorkel zodiac goes!” On a whim, I thought, Why not? Just in case I see something. And then it happened. Two sleek blacktip reef sharks swam gracefully right below us. It was the kind of breathtaking, heart-pounding moment that felt straight out of a National Geographic magazine!
