💚🌎We are so excited to announce that Geordie Theatre is taking the pledge to become a Canadian Green Alliance member. Our aim is to take ownership of our footprint as theatre makers, community leaders, and as artists. As a CGA member, we will reimagine our theatrical process to include a reduction of our impact on the planet, and an emphasis on the health of our community. ♻️Geordie is already actively working to minimize its environmental footprint, particularly as a touring company. We are dedicated to compensating for any unavoidable emissions by supporting organizations such as Compensation CO2 Québec, which focuses on reducing greenhouse gases in the atmosphere.

Yesterday was something special! We proudly showcased our vision to become carbon neutral by 2030 during a special event at SnowWorld Zoetermeer. It was an incredible experience to guide our partners through an engaging tour of the resort, sharing insights into over 12 impactful projects driving our ESG journey. From energy efficiency upgrades and circular snowmaking to waste management in F&B, renewable energy initiatives, and social impact programs, each project reflects our commitment to sustainability and creating a positive, lasting impact. Sustainability is a shared responsibility, and it was inspiring to see so many of our partners and suppliers step forward to support this vision by signing our ESG Commitment Charter. Their dedication and collaboration are key to turning these ambitions into reality. Yesterday’s event was a powerful reminder of what we can achieve when we work together. A big thank you to Wim Hubrechtsen, Esther Schelling, Lisa Jacobs, Lotte Kok, Melvin van Brakel, Stefan de Graaff and all our guest speakers...and the incredible Milton Lopes for blowing our minds while serving a 100% plant based lunch with winter sport classics!

By using a more sustainable mode of transportation for your trips during Get There Green! you'll be joining thousands of fellow New Yorkers in not only directly improving our environment, but you may also discover that sustainable transportation is a great option for your trips. Transportation represents the second largest source of New York State's greenhouse gas emissions and the largest part of most New Yorker's personal carbon footprint as well. This is why it is critically important that we all lower our emissions from transportation in order to meet our nation-leading economy-wide greenhouse gas emission reduction goals of 40% of 1990 emission levels by 2030, 85% by 2050, and ultimately net-zero.
