https://lnkd.in/gNK44HJJ Microsoft has started work on their new tool for automating software development! Similar to Devin it will use agents to do research execute code and check the coding environment. I already feel like I do 1 months work in a day now with chat gpt. I wonder how much this will boost the productivity and its effects on the economy at large once this framework really is used widely! I definitely think this could be amazing in helping to reduce the barrier to entry for using a new front end or backend framework!

Let's talk about Open Source, AI, and the Future of Software Development? This year's Octoverse report, published by GitHub, showcases how open source and AI are changing the game for developers. Since GitHub's inception, we've seen its significant influence on how we develop software, with 93% of developers using this platform for new solutions. Now, AI is becoming an important part of this. More developers are diving deeper into work and building applications utilizing AI. Open source makes it easier to pick up new technologies and get them up and running quickly. Virtually all modern software and a lot in the digital economy run on open source. It plays a huge role in helping new technologies move from concept to becoming part of what we all use in our daily lives. https://lnkd.in/dB8iVt_E

Microsoft's OCD with Dev community has led to a groundbreaking new tool for developers: Copilot Workspace. This innovative platform allows developers to brainstorm, plan, build, test, and run code in natural language. Unlike any other company, Microsoft has been focused on developers for decades, and their new tool is a testament to their strategy. With full control over every step of the process, developers can leverage different Copilot-powered agents to create their best work. It's no surprise that Microsoft is in the position to monetize AI tooling for developers, as no other major tech company has properly responded to their open developer tools strategy. JetBrains for IDEs, GitLab for source control and cognition (in future) are the only companies that have come close. Check out the link for more information on Copilot Workspace. #Microsoft #developers #AI #CopilotWorkspace #innovation

If you work in Media and are interested in engineering, or technology, you should tune into this post. Coming from big tech years ago, I did not consider "media" to be one that requires constant technological innovation and adoption or pushes technology forward. I was wrong. After watching the teams at our clients like Bloomberg, NBC, Univision, etc… "media" is a technology arms race day in and out. Who can publish first? Whose site is faster? Who's adopting the newest technology (AMP, Apple News, etc)? Streaming platforms, CTV, interactive broadcast, the list goes on. That's why we started The Loop at Econify, to give our engineers an edge over the competition and keep them updated on all the latest software and tech industry news. We send a concise monthly email summarizing the most recent tech updates that our engineers working with our clients need to know. Starting this year, we're open sourcing it to anyone interested. Check out the archive and find our signup link here: https://lnkd.in/dJhvYDNx. Here's some title highlights to give you an idea of what you're getting into: 1️⃣ "GitHub Copilot Chat Now Available": We keep up to date on the mainstream AI engineering tooling. All of our engineering teams are (compliantly) AI enabled. 2️⃣ "A Deep Dive into React Server Components": We reported early on React's development of Server Components (https://lnkd.in/dY2EcJKs) (RSC) for general release, a move that is sure to be a major landmark in the Javascript ecosystem. 3️⃣ "Move Over Node.js, Bun is Here": Anyone working in the JavaScript ecosystem should keep their eyes on Bun, a new Javascript runtime designed to make building software faster and less frustrating. 🔗 Like what you see? Catch the full details in the February issue of The Loop: Econify.com/theloop. WARNING: It is tech heavy, but actively ties back into business needs. Feel free to share your feedback, whether good or bad, and let us know your thoughts on how we can improve.

Two days ago, I wrote about Devin AI. Today, Microsoft introduced AutoDev, an interesting software engineering AI. The rate of change in the AI-assisted software development field is geometric, not linear. We need to consider how to incorporate the new capability into our operations without disheartening or existing workforce or committing too soon to a half-baked solution. To move too slowly is to court irrelevance. To move too quickly is to court talent Exodus and capability gaps. We must move forward in a careful hurry; rapidly adopting new technology, adjusting processes, upskilling employees when prudent, right-sizing the workforce when necessary, and communicating the plan to the workforce. It is a brave new world, we cannot afford to fumble this. https://lnkd.in/gTX2WyWQ
