I love the music of the 1970s but do why are we revisiting the issues of the era? Time to move on. It’s troubling to see how restrictive reproductive rights policies in modern America continue to suppress women’s autonomy, especially in a society that economically compels women to work and offers inadequate protections from abuse. This issue also highlights a broader concern: the futility of workplace diversity programs that seem more focused on appearance than meaningful change. It’s incongruous to say the least. True diversity, equity, and inclusion require addressing systemic issues, not just surface-level initiatives. It’s time for a more genuine commitment to these values. Two years after the overturning of Roe v. Wade, the pro-life movement and its Republican allies found themselves unprepared for the implications. The triumph in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization now appears more like a tragedy, raising pressing questions for the movement and its stakeholders. The absence of consensus among Republicans on key issues post-Roe has led to a political vacuum, enabling extreme activists to drive draconian measures at the state level. As they grapple with new challenges, Republicans face debates on bans, exceptions, penalties, and more, highlighting the complexities of navigating a post-Roe world. The International Planned Parenthood Federation is concerned by the grave implications that a second Trump Presidency – with full backing from a Republican majority in Congress – poses to health and human rights in the U.S. and across the world. Anticipated rollbacks on reproductive rights, gender and sexuality, outlined within the Heritage Foundation’s Project 2025 agenda, risk the undermining and reversal of hard-won gains for the rights of women, LGBTQI+ people and marginalised communities worldwide. On the global stage, Trump’s win takes place within an increasingly restrictive legislative and policy environment for sexual and reproductive rights around the world, furthered by the growing influence of a global anti-rights movement to which Trump and his allies are closely tied. Comprising a diverse range of actors, including politically conservative think tanks, lobbyists, along with authoritarian and conservative governments, this movement seeks to erode human rights through highly coordinated and well-resourced efforts in national and global arenas, threatening to reverse decades of progress 🔙.
