I discovered this TED Talk on the Benefits of Technology in Education; this TED talk was by a 9th grader. This video gave me a different perspective on technology in education because Uyen brought the student's viewpoints and how it benefits them. Technology in education uses knowledge to facilitate students' learning and introduce new technological devices. Various computer applications enhance students learning; there is student information system software that supports students. Many points stood out to me during this video. Still, because it is also beneficial for teachers, many online applications can support teachers and make the workload easier by helping with grading, lesson plans, and monitoring student progress. An essential takeaway is that technology has improved students' access to resources and materials that can support students in and outside the classroom with educational videos and games that students can use to improve their learning. As teachers, we should include technology to improve and enhance students' learning; allowing students to use technology can continually advance their learning by finding information through research, etc. As teachers, we can include educational applications and games that engage students and encourage them to enhance their learning. Technology does have many benefits for students' learning and education, and everyone can benefit from the use of technology.

The primary use of modern technology is immediate and expansive access to information. While this certainly has extensive application within academics, we believe that the primary purpose of education is more than just the acquisition of information: it is learning how to properly understand, interpret, and use that information in virtuous and wise ways. Unfortunately, modern uses of information technology flip the roles of the teacher and technology in the classroom. The technology is seen as the chief information giver within the class, while the teacher simply facilitates that flow of information. If this is education, then all students become an ‘empty vessel’ who have a vast knowledge of how to access knowledge but have no way of understanding and owning knowledge themselves. If our children’s experience of the world is constantly filtered through technology, they never receive the benefit of genuine human interaction. This type of healthy human connection is the foundation of their development into young men and women of character and virtue. We pride ourselves on limiting technology on our campuses and within the classroom to allow our students to flourish. 

Technology ✨️ is revolutionizing the way people communicate and conduct business; yet, it has been slow to really take foot in our schools curriculums. Up until recently, technology has been introduced to students as an elective versus a complete integration and redefining of the way students are taught. The fact of the matter is, today, children are growing up in a world much different from what their parents and grandparents experienced. It is a world of computers, software, and wireless access to information on-the-fly. It is a world that requires a different set of skills to succeed; thus, it may be worth your while to investigate the role technology plays in your childs schooling. Studies show that the use of technology in the classroom is highly beneficial to students and teachers. Not only does it prepare students for the real world, it improves many skills that might not otherwise be fully cultivated. Because technology is so highly valued in America, students that become familiar and quite good at using it feel a sense of accomplishment, which improves self-esteem.
