Following up from this weeks #ITSM24 conference - this was a great job by the itSMF UK team. The sessions were well balanced and varied, and the awards event was slick and professional. Many congratulations to Claire Drake on smashing it on her first event as chair - and to the whole board. I'm delighted for all the awards winners, particularly, Daniel Breston (lifetime Bat award) Simone Jo Moore Sally Bogg Alex Cosma Barry Corless and many others and new faces from CGI BT Group and others... It was also great as ever to catch up with partners, friends and colleagues from The Service Desk Institute (SDI) PeopleCert CDW and more. The lifeblood of the event are the attendees / practitioners (who have real jobs) and it was great to chat with many well known and new industry contacts. There's too many people to mention here... It was also really inspiring to see a number of new and young participants - #itsm is alive and kicking..! Take-aways and messages - to me there was a balance to the variety of discussion content that I hadn't felt for a while. Many of the sessions included 'and' in their title or message - #agile and ITSM, #devops / #product management and ITSM, #people and #itsm, #ai and ITSM, #people and ITSM - and and and - culture, people and tech, moving in convergence. One of my favourite quotes was from DWP - 'world class is a balance of excellence'... It is also really encouraging to finally hear that there is a move to get Service Management on the standard educational agenda. It felt like there is a balance, a convergence and a general move towards getting things done together, not as individuals or silos. No one seemed too fixated on any one idea or model - we all have our own agendas of course, but this does seem tangible. We'll see how all that develops, as we converge towards #ITSM25 in Milton Keynes... 😊 😄

#BMP Day, which took place this week, proved to be an amazing opportunity to connect with everyone involved in this strategic, complex program of Allianz and it was great to share the stage with my colleague Alexander Heinrich and talk about how we can sail the Business Master Platform delivery into success. 🚢 🔄 We have successfully brought together delivery, platform strategy, IT architecture, and the Allianz Customer Model. We have transitioned from large, time-consuming deliveries to smaller and frequent releases. Unclear roles have been replaced with end-to-end governance, clarifying responsibilities and improving efficiency. 🔗 We have moved away from a monolithic structure 🚢 to a more pragmatic approach 🚤, based on agile micro-services. This transition has allowed us to focus on verticalization, bringing our global assets together from the backend to the user interface. This approach has been applied successfully across various areas such as Retail P&C, Commercial, Sales, and Claims. 🔌 Technically, our decoupled processes allow for independent releases based on speed. Performance is enhanced through leveraging the cloud, providing greater elasticity for our business interactions. 🤝 I also want to stress that the collaboration between business and IT is key for the success of BMP program, and we are closely working together to enhance our core insurance assets - Philipp Kroetz, Anne-Sophie Grouchka, Jon-Paul Jones, Tolga Gürkan and Stefan Britz. Looking ahead to 2024, we will continue with the new delivery model, ensuring alignment and collaboration. Exciting times lie ahead! Lion Solutions had a major milestone this week completing a 90-day technology support transition to GO-LIVE Operations. This MVP team of technologists and support professionals Gerard Gathright II Ciera Woods Sequoia T. Kevin Alston Enoch Ntunga - The Lion Team were key to making this possible and it would not have happened without the collaborative efforts of this team, end-customer and business partner. We also had to keep in mind that we cannot be perfect, transitions just don’t happen that way as this team was truly committed to no mistakes, which is not possible in any walks of delivering technology. The understanding of completing a 90-day transition, ahead of schedule for a customer mission at the impact level that we are supporting, does not happen daily. I’m very proud 😊 of this team. So, we decided to celebrate 🥳 this success and milestone with a weekend team lunch; as we discussed some of the challenges and lessons learned during the process with focus on continuous improvement, personal and professional development as we continue to meet our next milestone. We didn’t just discuss work on a Saturday, we also had a great time chatting, laughing and celebrating November birthdays. I’m going miss our bi-weekly “Lion 🦁 Morning Coffee” standup calls with this team but we will continue to focus on Time Management, Perception and Prioritization as we deliver exceptional customer support. We are now at a different place with greater expectations. GREAT job team 🎉 and let’s continue to challenge ourselves.
