CeNTI becomes the first laboratory in Portugal to develop lithium-based batteries with Bühler technology. One of the biggest global challenges is to promote sustainable growth while guaranteeing the preservation of natural resources. It is estimated that by 2040, energy consumption will increase by 30% compared to current levels, which will require constant technological advances in battery development. In this context, the CeNTI - Centre for Nanotechnology and Advanced Materials for Nanotechnology and Bühler Group Wet Grinding & Dispersing has relied on Bühler technology to develop and optimize materials and formulations for more sustainable batteries. Among the main advances are the new generation batteries, which combine greater performance with less environmental impact. For its research and development activities, CeNTI selected a Bühler HIVIS DISPER MIX HM-3D-5 triple-shaft planetary mixer, recognized for its versatility. This technology covers all stages of production, from the laboratory scale to high-performance lines capable of processing up to 3000 liters per hour, ensuring compatibility with innovative formulations and state-of-the-art materials. Thanks to this partnership, CeNTI and Bühler are moving towards the European goal of achieving carbon neutrality by 2050. https://lnkd.in/evJxRVBN https://lnkd.in/dJwyGcjV #Buhler #CeNTI #GrindingAndDispersion #Advancematerials #sustainability

Today, March 22nd, marks #WorldWaterDay, a momentous occasion urging us to recognize that water transcends being merely a resource to be exploited or contested – it is an indispensable human right fundamental to all facets of existence. On this significant day, we draw attention to a noteworthy study conducted by researchers at INL - International Iberian Nanotechnology Laboratory, in partnership with the Universidad de Alcalá - Madrid. Their findings illuminate a concerning reality: greenhouse plastic cover films, typically crafted from polyethylene (PE), are leaching microplastics into the environment as they are utilized, exerting a substantial toll on ecosystems. Researchers from the Water Quality research group at INL and the University of Alcalá applied advanced characterisation techniques to assess the chemical fingerprint, size distribution, and concentration of plastic particles released into the environment. World Water Day is a reminder of the critical importance of preserving and responsibly managing our planet's most precious resource - the water! + Read the full update: https://lnkd.in/dFwfyMuk #inl #inlnano #labplas #waterquality #nanotechnology #WaterAction #WorldWaterDay2024 LabPlas H2020 Project
