How to turn a farm into the world's greatest music festival? Of course, it demands a huge amount of money, people and efforts. But the return is absolutely worthy, for the producers, the sponsors and specially for those who build this event or get the ticket to enjoy it. From the perspective of a music lover, I personally think that a festival is a celebration of life for many reasons, starting from the intense emotions and the life-changing experience that it can be. But also because a festival is also a great opportunity for people who: - Build the infrastructure. - Prepare the food and deliver the drinks. - Provide security for musicians, technicians and festival goers. - Offer transportation and accomodation, among other services. This video shows how the Glastonbury festival ("Glasto") is built in 26 days, and also part of its history, from the first edition in 1970 as the "Pop Folk & Blues" festival with nearly 1000 attendants, until today, with over 400 workers and 210.000 attendants. Renaissance Festivals are great opportunities for LARPing (live action role-playing), as knights or hunters for example, or cosplaying favorite characters in TV shows, movies, or anime. It's the perfect place to gather friends or family to join in and let loose. Who doesn’t want a glimpse into the past through a historically themed festival and the brave folks who bring it to life? A festival where you can have people dressing not only in traditional Renaissance clothing but also from a time period appropriate for their own culture like Vikings or others, like the traditional Vietnamese ao dai or the Japanese kimono, with music from various troops around the park? There we see numerous customs, even those that add fantastical elements by dressing up as fairies, wizards, or even bring their DND (Dungeons and Dragons) characters to life. Of course, there are numerous vendors with fantastic handmade goods and the food booths too! Whether or not you dress up is up to you, but the real show is out with the staff reenacting scenes on horseback or showing off falconry. The past weekend was the first DGTL festival of the year, in Amsterdam. Last year this time we (HyperCulture.nl) were commissioned by Bravoure to create the key visual and an array of visual assets for the DGTL 2024 festivals. The theme for 2024 is 'Synergy' — "The combined power of the collective. An exchange of energy, a mutual participation in a moment of liminality." The One Night Stand is a great initiative but has previously only delivered a once-off sugar hit to regional economies. The support of Music Australia in building regional capacity to grow creative economies in regional spaces is a welcome move. There are aspirations in regional communities to host live music events and appetite from regional communities to attend music events. Let's find more ways to ensure creative industries can thrive in regional areas, particularly through regional touring circuits, live music venues, and youth arts programs.
