Did you know that climate change is widely recognized as the greatest threat to human health and poses one of the biggest challenges to the resilience of our health system? At Sanofi, we set out to fill in the research gap linking environmental change impacts and our own portfolio and pipeline of products. After a comprehensive literature review of 200 studies, we found that 70% of our portfolio indications and 78% of our pipeline indications are targeted at diseases impacted by environmental change factors (air pollution, shift in seasonal patterns, chemical pollution, extreme temperatures, water pollution). With this data in hand, we are evermore equipped to design effective strategies that will make a real difference. Through our holistic approach, we commit to confronting the complex health challenges arising from climate change and fostering more robust healthcare systems worldwide. Our comprehensive portfolio, combined with the expertise of our team and partners, helps advance our goal to prevent and treat diseases in critical therapeutic areas. The Audience Group believes passionately in the inherent power of human potential to confront our greatest challenges. It's why I joined the company back in January, and it's why I couldn't be prouder of this new Climate, Health & Equity offering for the pharmaceutical and life sciences industry. We have created an interactive workshop which takes participants through a learning journey from 'theory' to 'action' centred around this critical intersection. The workshop not only provides participants with deep insights into the effects of climate change on human health and equity, but is designed to inspire and align teams to create impactful business actions. It's a programme that asks: what if the pathway to innovation lies in *allowing* our people to innovate? What if the ideas we need are *our* ideas? We are an incredibly imaginative and resourceful species. It's time we leveraged these strengths. It's time we gave ourselves the permission to act. Let's stop waiting for the ideas to arrive and start actively pursuing them. We are already everything we need. Let's get to it.
Our new Climate, Health and Equity programme has arrived… Today we’re proud to launch a fresh vision, mission and set of values that are an important part of our business. We predict that climate change will continue to dramatically impact the pharmaceutical sector in the coming years, and this programme is designed to meet the challenges head on. 🤝 Want to help shape the future of Climate, Health and Equity? 🙋♂️ You can be among the first to join our new workshops and enjoy introductory rates for a limited time. The pandemic highlighted critical vulnerabilities in global supply chains, with the pharmaceutical industry bearing a significant burden. Pharma relies on vital ingredients sourced from across the globe, many of which come from regions increasingly threatened by climate change. This has led to delays, temperature-sensitive distribution issues, and unforeseen production outages, with serious consequences for treating current and emerging health challenges. Why is this discussion critical today? As climate change exacerbates supply chain disruptions, the ability to reliably produce and distribute pharmaceuticals is unprecedented. Understanding and addressing these vulnerabilities is essential for maintaining public health and preparing for future crises. To tackle these pressing questions, Christina Hedge will organize an expert panel featuring: Rena Conti, Associate Professor at Questrom School of Business, Boston University Nahid Bhadelia, Founding Director at Boston University Center for Emerging Infectious Diseases Policy & Research (CEID) Christina Hedge, Vice President at #BoozAllen Neil Jacobs, Former Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Environmental Observation and Prediction, NOAA Key Takeaways: Current Landscape: Analyzing the global pharmaceutical supply chain, identifying potential "choke points" and areas of fragility. Building Resilience: Strategies for designing more robust supply chains that mitigate climate change impacts. Medical and Payer Considerations: Addressing how climate change affects medical teams, health payers, and pharmaceutical distribution. Every vote counts. By supporting this panel, you ensure that these critical issues are discussed with the depth and urgency they deserve. Help bring this important conversation to light and contribute to shaping the future of the pharmaceutical industry amidst climate challenges. 🌍 Climate change is having a profound impact on global health, particularly for those with respiratory conditions like asthma and COPD. Rising temperatures and worsening air quality are leading to more severe symptoms. But there’s an important challenge we must also address: many of the medications used to treat these conditions, such as inhalers, emit powerful greenhouse gases. The good news is that #science is rising to the challenge. Researchers and innovators are working to develop more sustainable, lower-emission inhalers that are safer for both patients and the environment. By the end of the decade, we expect to see these new technologies available, offering a solution that supports better health outcomes without harming the planet. 🌱 This is a critical step forward in the ongoing journey of making medicine not only more effective but also more sustainable. A healthier planet is essential for healthier lives!! https://lnkd.in/dsT-UUBD #ScienceForGood #Sustainability #ClimateChange #innovation
