"Gravel". In cycling, it's a buzzword. A catch-all. And for some, a hot topic... I guess what I love about gravel bikes is the potential. These bikes go places where they don't always fit perfectly. For me, that's the appeal. Modern bikes are amazingly capable, but at some point, YOU, the rider, are the margin. Limitless potential isn't just the bike. It's YOU + the BIKE. If that's your jam, this is a bike for you... https://lnkd.in/gQdKrjxp

Tell us your story as an older cyclist through the 50+ Cycling Survey, Year 5 Next week, I will do a 6-day bike tour along the Katy Trial with my niece, who is 30 years younger than me. Two years ago, I would have ridden with my husband. But he’s still recovering from a breaking his leg in September 2022 and is wary about riding due to balance issues. So, I am riding with my niece. As we do some training rides, I realize that our cycling speed, strength, and agility are different and will affect how we ride together. This is part of my story about how to adapt my cycling so I can continue to ride. There’s more to my story, but I want to hear yours, specifically through the 50+ Cycling Survey, Year 5. Have things changed as you’ve gotten older? Do you still enjoy riding a bike, even though your speed or where you go may have changed? Click below to take the survey. Promote the survey to your circle of friends or through your professional work. Not sure what to say? Use one or several content options we developed at this link: https://lnkd.in/eRUxM7Un

I'm happy to share our latest publication on the impact of São Paulo's (highly contested) cycling policy implemented in the 2010s on bicycle ridership. Camila Cunquero This is one of the few Latin American studies to estimate the causal effects of building hundreds of km of cycling routes on mode choice across different trip purposes in a city as large as São Paulo. Among the main results, we estimate a ~1.0% increase in cycling probability among 'paulistanos' highly exposed to new cycling routes. With São Paulo’s very large population, where more than 70% of trips are short (<10km), expanding cycling policies could lead to nearly 200,000 additional daily cycling trips, assuming broader coverage of new routes.
