It’s International Fraud Awareness Week. Now’s the time to shed light on a stat that highlights exactly why this week is so important. The world’s largest anti-fraud organization, the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE), reported that fraud costs organizations approximately $5 trillion worldwide each year. $5 trillion is an unacceptable number. So what can be done about it? There are many different defense methods, but one worth highlighting is ongoing identity monitoring. This helps with ensuring continuous customer data verification and updates, inevitably helping both users and businesses in the long run. Fraud is a global challenge. Staying informed and vigilant is imperative so that this $5 trillion doesn’t climb even higher.

Trua would like to dedicate this week to recognizing international fraud awareness week. According to the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE), a typical organization loses around 5% of its annual revenue to fraud each year, with the average loss per fraud case being approximately $1.7 million. Individuals are also affected by fraud, with over 15 million Americans claiming to be victims of some form of identity theft or fraudulent online activity using their data. These numbers may seem disparaging, but there are organizations such as Trua who are dedicated to fighting back against fraud, and protecting your data. For those of us in the tech space, it is important for us to recognize the role we play in not only raising awareness of these events, but taking the necessary steps to protect users who engage with our products and services. Trua invites you to join us in shining a light on these issues, as well as the call for safer solutions to protect user data. Want to show your support for fraud awareness?
