Throughout November, Get Well has been working to make a positive impact for folks in need with our food drive! Employees at our headquarters in Bethesda, MD and those remote across the country have been donating food to local banks to help fight hunger in our communities. We're grateful to be able to give back. Way to go team! #GivingThanks#FoodDrive#FightHunger

🧡Volunteer your time to help sort food, assist at events, or reach out to those in need.

Samos Volunteers is proud to announce the launch of our winter campaign, a vital step in preparing to meet the critical needs of the displaced community this season. Throughout October, the warehouse team, in collaboration with the communications team, worked to document our preparations for winter distribution.
For those unfamiliar, one of Samos Volunteers’ core missions, besides providing psychosocial support, is the distribution of Non-Food Items (NFI). Four days a week, every week of the year, we welcome approximately 50 to 70 people daily into our free shop, providing emergency clothing sets to men, women, and children arriving in Samos.
Transitioning our distribution to winter mode this past month has been both challenging and inspiring.
Working in NFIs requires a mindset that balances contrasting realities : an abundance that often feels like insufficiency. The warehouse may look full of donations and clothes ready to distribute, yet the harsh truth is that these supplies won’t last through the winter.
The recent UNHCR report shows over 4,400 people currently living in the overcrowded CCAC of Samos, a number that continues to grow.
This overcrowding exacerbates risks to physical and mental health. People have been reported sleeping on the floor without receiving blankets, bedding or protection from the cold; the camp management is not distributing either any kit of clothing and shoes, leaving a huge gap to be filled by NGOs, overwhelmed by the situation and the number of people in need of warmth.
Despite these challenges, we’ve risen to meet the crisis head-on. In the first days of our winter distribution, we’ve reached 100 people daily; a significant effort, yet still a fraction of the overwhelming demand.
At Samos Volunteers, we face this duality every day. We acknowledge the harsh reality: this is an emergency setting where needs often exceed what we can provide. Yet, we remain committed to preserving dignity and offering the freedom of choice to those we serve.

✨Did you know that if you have a pacemaker, you can include it in your Will to be donated to a dog in need after you pass away?
Although pacemakers cannot be used for another human ( in the Unites States), they can help dogs with heart problems and potentially save their lives.
Many pacemakers are simply thrown away, and dogs may die because people do not know about this option. Donating the pacemaker can even save the dog's owner the cost of a new one, which can sometimes make a crucial difference in affording life-saving treatment.

Today, we’re donating $100 to Feeding Indiana's Hungry, Inc., an organization that works closely with several of the state’s hunger service providers, food producers, and processors to serve Hoosiers in need.
Food insecurity can worsen chronic illnesses, lead to delayed development in young children, increase anxiety and depression, and so much more.
Fortunately, there are several non-profits in our communities working to help those 1 in 9 people (and 1 in 7 children) in Indiana who face hunger.
There are several ways YOU help those struggling in your area, too! Consider donating non-perishable food items to local food banks, shelters, and community pantries, volunteering at these locations, or hosting a canned food drive at your workplace.
What organizations are helping feed the hungry in your community? Tag them in the comments!
