When the pressure is on, the aerospace industry turns to Kevlar®. Many aircraft contain bottles of pressurized oxygen and other gases. Choosing the right material for the casing of these bottles is critical. If a traditional alloy-encased bottle suffers catastrophic failure, metal fragments can be released at high velocity, threatening passengers and crew. Casings made with Kevlar® filament offer a more lightweight solution that also reduces risk — rupturing rather than disintegrating if ductile failure occurs, which does not result in fragmentation. Springs are indispensable components in airplanes, serving diverse roles in ensuring safety, comfort, and functionality. 👌 Safety is the top priority in the aerospace sector, and any risk of spring failure is simply not an option - this is why spring testing is crucial. In the past, we've received several springs which were intended for use in the control panel of a plane, which failed during fatigue testing. From this, we carried out a full failure analysis and were able to make several recommendations to the customer as to how it could be remedied. ✅ #Aerospace #Springs #SpringDesign #SpringDesigners #DesignEngineers #SpringTesting #SpringFailure #FailureAnalysis
