It was a great session, great to participate with Jonathan Z. Purnendu Mukherjee Marguerite deCourcelle Few things we mentioned re: AI and video game development for those that missed it: (1) much like mobile created new gameplay forms (hi Flappy Bird), we’re already seeing new gameplay types with genAI at gameplay stage, (2) game dev process will need to adapt to gameplay that involves emerging (and somewhat unpredictable) experiences, (3) given legal uncertainty for AI generated content from a IP and product liability perspective, devs need to be extra thoughtful about what IP they want to own that is touched by genAI and to implement good content moderation tools if letting users use genAI to make content live, and (4) the space is moving so quickly, and the capabilities of the big models out there (including open source ones) are so good that allocating resources to building/refining your own AI models right now carries risk of a suboptimal investment unless you think you have special sauce data that can help your uniquely trained model do something that can’t be done via integration with existing models.

Fascinating insights on the evolving landscape of AI in gaming – the potential for new gameplay experiences and the importance of IP considerations are particularly thought-provoking!

Little visual from the Buildbox.ai team on how humans are at the center of the #ai game development process.
