As we reflect on seven impactful years of SIFA, our mandate remains focused on leveraging Africa's youth potential by influencing policies aimed at skills development and inclusive TVET education and training for our youth. Approaching this year's government consultations, my team and I are committed to intentionally and sustainably integrating our products and processes into our partners' structures, systems, and budgets to better serve member states in the area of skills development. Personally, I aspire for our contributions and efforts to lead to better training and, consequently, better opportunities for African youth. We achieve this by supporting the African Union and AUDA NEPAD in their respective mandates. SIFA has been an effective tool and enabler of critical engagements on skills development and training for youth. Africa holds immense potential, but it is up to governments and institutions to advance these opportunities and lead discussions that enable young people to acquire the right skills for future employment. Each level of governance has a role to play. The continental level must learn from the country and regional levels to develop guidelines, frameworks, and share best practices. One of SIFA’s key activities over the years has been the development and institutionalization of ASPYEE, a digital continental knowledge-sharing platform that advocates for dialogue among stakeholders in the TVET, skills development, and employment ecosystem. The path forward is clear: intentionality and collaboration will enable us to harness Africa's skilled and youthful potential to build a resilient and sustainable future. On 20th of November, the European Competence Centre for Social Innovation hosted the ‘Skills Call Beneficiaries’ Kick-Off Meeting’, bringing together 78 participants from 16 Member States online. 💡 Beneficiaries of the Call, ‘Social Innovations for the Upskilling of Vulnerable Youth, Especially Young People Not in Employment, Education, or Training (NEETs)’, were provided with essential information on managing project grant agreements, specific reporting requirements for project implementation, and recommendations for effective project communication. 🚀 The event also featured an inspirational presentation and speech, ‘Scaling Change: Small Steps, Big Social Impact’, by Elin McCallum, Founder and Executive Director of Bantani Education. Her insights served as a powerful reminder of the importance of making skills visible to empower youth and unlock new opportunities. #ESFplus #SocialInnovationplus #TransnationalCooperation #EUfunds #SKILLSbeneficiaries

The maiden edition of Africa Skills Week hosted in Accra Ghana was a great reminder of the immense potential across the continent and the growing importance of skills development in shaping Africa's future. We saw firsthand how the right blend of education, technology, and opportunity unlocks new pathways to success. The focus on upskilling, vocational training, and digital literacy was especially impactful, with many calling for increased investment in these areas to fuel long-term economic growth. In his closing speech, the honorable Minister for Education in Ghana, Dr Yaw Osei Adwutum echoed the integral role played by TVET in the skills development of Africa’s future workforce. He emphasized that “TVET is no longer the fallback option it was once considered to be. It is now the pathway to opportunity, and it must be positioned as such”. This is an important assertion given the often-negative perceptions around TVET in our societies, which calls us to reimagine how TVET can truly transform the economic landscape of Africa. The #SIFA team hosted a panel discussion during the ASW side sessions titled “Transforming Skills Development: Aligning Demand and Supply,” addressing the critical issue of the skills gap in Africa’s workforce. As industries evolve and new technologies emerge, the demand for specialized skills intensifies. TVET is uniquely positioned to meet this demand, equipping workers with the competencies required by specific industries and regions and preparing them for the modern economy. The session underscored the importance of aligning TVET curricula with the latest industry trends and economic shifts. Through partnerships between TVET institutions and the private sector, training programs are tailored to reflect current needs, ensuring graduates are workforce ready. The discussion emphasized #SIFAs vital role in advancing collaboration among governments, the private sector, and training institutions to strengthen vocational education and training across the continent. Let us continue to support one another in building a more skilled and empowered Africa. As we reflect on the future of our continent, and particularly our youth, I am interested to know what your takeaways were from this new platform, that is now Africa Skills Week? #AfricaSkillsWeek #SkillsForAfrica #YouthEmpowerment #FutureOfWork #Innovation #Collaboration #SkillsGap #SkillsDevelopment #Leadership #SIFA #TVET

Applications for Theirworld Global Youth Ambassadors (GYA) are now open! 💃 A friend recently said to me, "You seem really passionate about education," and I couldn't help but smile and respond, "Hmm, do I?". It's funny because I've always seen myself as a bit of a "jack of all trades." I'm driven by a desire for all-round, inclusive development, spanning across different sectors and causes. It feels weird to claim that I'm passionate about everything, yet it also feels strange to narrow it down to just one thing. Does that make sense? Last year though, something clicked for me. I learnt about the interlinkages of Sustainable Development Goals, which made me realize that most of the challenges we face are all intertwined together. Society, after all, is complex in nature. So, I decided to take my learning and exploration seriously, to find where I could make a difference. This is why I joined Theirworld's Global Youth Ambassadors program. This program provides learning and networking resources for young people around the world in all things education advocacy and campaigning. Eventually, we will not only be able to run successful education initiatives in our communities but also be best positioned to advocate for policy and systemic changes for a sustainable future for children and young people. If this is something that interests you, whether a seasoned professional in education or a novice explorer like myself, I'd highly recommend joining the program. You can learn more about it here: https://lnkd.in/e9JkJ3Pc I'd also like an accountability buddy, so let me know if you join! 😂 #Theirworld #GlobalYouthAmbassador #EducationForAll #ActForEarlyYears #YouthLeaders #ApplyNow

🚀 Why Your Support for the 1000 Kitas Campaign Matters! 🎯 Did you know that more and more children in Germany are growing up multilingual? 🌍 According to the latest “Education in Germany ” 2024 report, a rising percentage of children in German Kitas primarily speak a non-German language at home. This trend highlights the growing cultural and linguistic diversity in early education. https://lnkd.in/dFm22ph4 📊 As families become increasingly diverse, Kitas need to adapt to ensure children receive the support they need. While efforts have been made through programs like the Federal "Sprach-Kitas" initiative, major gaps still exist in assessing and supporting children's language skills and overall development as they enter school. This is where the 1000 Kitas Campaign comes in! 🌈 We aim to provide Kitas across Germany with inclusive, diverse learning materials that foster representation, belonging, and the reduction of prejudice from an early age. By addressing these challenges early on, we can help children thrive in our multicultural society, equipping them with the skills they need for a successful future. 💡 Why Should Your Company Support? - Investing in our campaign not only contributes to building a more inclusive society but also strengthens Germany's future workforce. - Position your brand as a leader in diversity and inclusion, supporting early education where evidence shows it really matters. - Flexible sponsorship options starting at just €500 – a small investment with huge social and economic returns! 🎄Looking for a meaningful way to give back this December? Support the 1000 Kitas Campaign and help shape the future of inclusive education in Germany. 👉 Let's talk about how you can get involved! #1000KitasKampagne #MoreDiversity #ZeitZuHandeln #FürAlleKinder

Impact(Ed) International has produced this wonderful film to demonstrate the impact of an extensive Test and Transition phase for its Nawiri Mentorship Accelerator Programme (N-MAP) in Kajiado and Wajir Counties in #Kenya. This initiative, implemented in collaboration with the Kenyan Ministry of Education with funding from the Global Innovation Fund has focused on enhancing the #agency and well-being of school-aged children, particularly #girls, and the community support needed to facilitate this. The project #evaluation, carried out by Zizi Afrique Foundation, has yielded promising results. It demonstrated substantial improvements in self-efficacy and educational aspirations among participants, enhanced #mentorship skills among educators, and increased parental and community support for education. These findings underline the efficacy of Impact(Ed)’s interventions and pave the way for a significant scale-up across the region. Impact(Ed) International plans to integrate this initiative within governmental frameworks to ensure sustainability and greater public policy alignment. The scale-up strategy includes rigorous training for school and community leaders, innovative media to reinforce key messages, and strategic collaborations to foster an enabling environment for mentorship programmes. #socialimpact #genderequality #innovatingtogether #scalinginnovation #internationaldevelopment
