ɢᴀꜱᴛʀᴏᴘᴀʀᴇꜱɪꜱ ᴀᴡᴀʀᴇɴᴇꜱꜱ ᴍᴏɴᴛʜ ɪꜱ ɪɴ ᴀᴜɢᴜꜱᴛ! 🟣 According to the Canadian Digestive Health Foundation, gastroparesis is a stomach disorder characterized by delayed gastric emptying, where food remains in the stomach for an abnormally long period (1). 🔹This condition, often termed as 'stomach paralysis,' significantly impacts digestion and nutrient absorption. 🥼 Despite ongoing research, there is currently no definitive cure for gastroparesis, leaving patients reliant on management strategies to alleviate symptoms and improve quality of life. 🔹Symptoms include severe abdominal discomfort, bloating, nausea, and in some cases, vomiting, due to undigested food lingering in the stomach for days or weeks. 🥼 “In 2022, a review of 13 studies from 1994 to 2019 found gastroparesis affects 13.8 to 267.7 people per 100,000 adults, with new cases ranging from 1.9 to 6.3 per 100,000 person-years. Hospitalizations for gastroparesis rose by 300% from 1997 to 2013” (2). 🟣 Awareness initiatives aim to enhance understanding of gastroparesis among the public and healthcare providers, advocating for better support and research to improve outcomes for affected individuals. #EndGastroparesis #AwarenessMatters ➡️ Additional information, and supports for Canadians are available from 🍁 Canadian Digestive Health Foundation: 1)https://lnkd.in/gwR4C_N6 2)https://lnkd.in/eSVXC8Bd

"Disorders of gut-brain interaction (DGBI), like irritable bowel syndrome, functional diarrhea, and functional constipation, can severely limit an individual's quality of life. Healthier skin, better sleep and less bloating and fatigue. Check! When it comes to improving health, probiotics check all the boxes. Why? “Microbes in the lower intestinal tract help with digestion and immune system regulation. A disruption in bacteria levels can lead to gut inflammation and other problems. So, when the body experiences an imbalance, bloating, diarrhea and other health problems can follow,” said Dr. Elizabeth Raskin, colorectal surgeon and surgical director for the Margolis Family Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) Program within the Digestive Health Institute at Hoag. If you’re considering adding probiotics to your diet, we share some things to consider in our latest blog post at the link below. #EmpoweredbyHoag
