Gruppo di Iniziativa Italiana (GII)’s Post

📣 11 November | Members of the Gruppo di Iniziativa Italiana (GII) presented the Italy-Europe Award 2024 to the EU Rapporteur on the future of the single market, President of the Jacques Delors Institute  and former Italian Prime Minister, Enrico Letta.   As per tradition, the Italian Initiative Group awards the Italy-Europe Prize to the most distinguished personalities who have shown commitment and dedication to the development and industrial competitiveness of Italy and the European Union together.   The Honourable Enrico Letta was awarded the Italy-Europe Prize in recognition of his role in drafting the report on the future of the European Union's internal market on behalf of the European Council. The report pointed out a growth path for the future of Europe by reducing the fragmentation of strategic sectors such as finance, telecommunications, energy and transport . " The single market is not just an abstract concept, it is the cornerstone of the EU integration process. To develop an efficient one, capable of creating the conditions for Europe to prosper, we need everyone - the EU institutions, Member States, businesses, citizens, workers and civil society - to play their part. The failure of some to do their part equals the failure of the whole chain. (...) a single market that supports job creation and facilitates entrepreneurial activity'.   Enrico Letta's vision for a more cohesive Europe, which relies on the ‘three A's’ - Awareness, Alliances and Action - and his ability to propose innovative solutions represent a decisive contribution to the economic and political prosperity of the Union.   The event was attended by the Italian Ambassador to Belgium, Federica Favi, Honorary President of the GII , Ambassador Vincenzo Celeste, and Stefano Verrecchia, Permanent Representative of Italy to the EU and Deputy Permanent Representative. Among the guests of honour were the Vice-President of the European Parliament Giuseppina Picierno, MEPs Irene Tinagli and Carlo Ciccioli,  Lorenzo Mannelli, the Permanent Representative of Finland to the EU Jori Arvonen, and Ambassador Andrea Orizio.  The Permanent Representative of NATO, Amb. Marco Peronaci, also attended. Sincere thanks are extended to all GII members who took part in this special occasion.   #GII #countrysystem #geopolitics #international relations #uniquemarket
