As the World cup cricket starts in the West Indies, aided by its relatively unknown cousin, the US, it is clear that the game has advanced in its hidden power to integrate countries, continents, cultures, religions and ideologies. Twenty countries (10% of all countries in the World) will compete for the top prize in the fastest version of the game in the month of June. They come from everywhere, highest and lowest GDP, highest and lowest GDP per capita, those who don’t have enough to eat and others who discard most of their food, old and young, men and women, and everybody else. They come from every continent but they are united in a singular passion. And now, it is perhaps the only thing that could integrate countries fragmented by religion and idiotic leaders. As a famous cricket player from India recently remarked, “attacking someone over religion is the most pathetic thing,“ in reference to his Muslim colleagues in the Indian Cricket Team. Most cricket players also did not attend the saffron clad leader’s inauguration of an ill conceived temple in the South Asian country. Cricket will force religion to the back foot for the benefit of humanity. But now, let’s celebrate the start of the integration of the World through sport. America needs cricket more than cricket needs America. A country slowly getting split up by ideology and religion and at the brink of losing democracy, America needs cricket more than ever. Could cricket save democracy?

The Indian Cricket Team lifts the World Cup & become the Champions. The same day, Mr Modi finds time to congratulate them on TV & doesn't say a word about the tragedy wherein 100+ people die in a stampede. The Cricket team compensated well by the BCCI & further get welcomed by none other than Narendra Modi Narendra Modi. A bunch of 15+ something people do well (no doubt, bring glory to the country), and are able to get One hour & Forty minutes out of 24 hours that Mr Modi has on hand daily. ▫ 100+ people died just the day before in a stampede & they go unnoticed. Because they're a nobody. ▫ Just a few days ago, the roofs of two airports fall down, a humble taxi driver dies while waiting to earn. And we are celebrating the World Cup Win. ▫ Bridges are falling apart in a certain state & all we are shown is how the Team India met with the PM. ▫ Rail Accidents have become more common than ever before. ▫ Everyday people are waiting to hear about what's happening in the NEET scam, and all they're witnessing is Rahul Gandhi's obsession with Narendra Modi Ji & Vice Versa. ▫ In Modi 3.0 we wish to see them debate about US-About you & Me. About the common problems of the common man who has voted for them. ▫ Modi Ji..What got you here, won't get you there... It is increasingly becoming evident. You need to address the real problems of the real people. The elite will take care of themselves well. We want to see you on the TV screens even when some tragedy strikes. To console the same people whom you meet during the election rallies, road shows. When the opposition makes a beeline to meet the affected, they will get a shoulder to cry on. You can't cry later that it was all to politicize the tragedy. PS: This is not a political post by any means. Just a heartfelt post, I found nowhere better to write about. If you feel offended by my post, please scroll past this one. I shall be grateful.

CHECK HOW CRICKET HAS ENTERED BUSINESS PAPERS ? The Economic Times (ET is what many call) in the recent past has been carrying some sports news but when it is cricket there is a more in-depth coverage. Check out this piece from Boria a noted commentator on cricket who has beautifully narrated the catch of SKY which tilted the match in India’s favor and finally we lifted the T20 world cup which has been eluding India ever since we won the inaugural cup in 2007. So, today’s ET has carried two pieces on cricket of the two key players who shifted the pendulum in the last 30 balls of the finals. INCIDENTALLY ACCORDING TO DISNEY +STAR THE A STAGGERING 53 MILLION TUNED TO THE FINAL. I THINK THE NUMBERS FOR TV IS YET TO COME. Even business papers are keen to cover cricket by eminent journalist to get more circulation and bring in a balance to the overall content of paper. Check on the comment section for the second article. #cricket #t20worldcup #Economictimes

Let the game of cricket bring back the smiles to the Afghan people!!! During the U.S. invasion of Afghanistan, amidst all the chaos and destruction, the Bush Administration invested almost $1 billion to build cricket infrastructure and promote the sport in Afghanistan. Afghan citizens have endured immense hardship, as vividly depicted in Khaled Hosseini's “Kite Runner,” which captures the struggle of the Afghan people under various invasions and rulers. Today, Afghanistan is playing in the semifinals of the World Cup, having defeated the mighty Australians to reach this stage. This achievement is no small feat, especially considering that no country visits Afghanistan to play cricket. The Afghan team must play abroad or at neutral venues in India or Dubai. Despite the uncertainty surrounding their future, Afghan cricketers exhibit remarkable spirit in their game. During this World Cup, there was no Halal food available to them at some venues, but rather than complain , they cooked their own meals. Let the game of cricket bring back the smiles to the Afghan people!!! P.S: For those who are not following cricket in the U.S., we are co-hosting the World Cup with the Caribbean Islands (West Indies). Team USA qualified for the Super 8 by beating top teams like Pakistan!!

Where do cricket bats come from? 🏏 What's the link between Cricket, Climate and Social Inclusion? Before getting into properly taking some time off and reflecting on the crazy year that was 2024, I had one more interesting article I wanted to research and write about. In Asia, cricket is the sport of the masses, the common people, while in England, cricket is associated with the posh upper class. This affects the market for cricketing gear, and recently, it has been causing issues at a grassroots level around the world. One particular item stands out—the cricket bat. There's a brewing crisis in the world of cricket, driven by a shortage of willow, the wood used to make 'official' cricket bats. Now that the T20 Cricket World Cup(mens) has reached its Conclusive end it is imperative for us to understand the factors at play. Toss is going to be important but the pitches in West Indies especially Antigua have been much better than the curated pitches at USA. Afgahnistan is indeed the dark horse and South Africa will have to play a caluculated game like achess master if they are to overtake the Giant Killers. India again have played well so far but they need to undersatnd that each game is different, composition, strtegy has to cahnge as per local conditions. We have often seen India falter at the final step,it is important for Rohit to be clinical like with the Aussies. The innings of Rohit sharma proved to be the difference.Virat Kohli has not fired nor has Jadeja.Management needs to take calculated call understanding the pros&cons. The Indian think tank has to put its foot forward assidiously to avoid any tremors in the future.!! https://lnkd.in/dp-XrMFE

The disappointing loss to India in the 2024 T20 World Cup match has sparked a familiar frustration among Pakistanis, including my colleagues who were discussing the match at the office today. As someone who stopped watching cricket after Pakistan's loss to Afghanistan in the 2023 World Cup, I believe the downfall of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and the nation as a whole can be attributed to several factors. These include incompetent leadership, a culture of fear where capable individuals are not given opportunities due to job security concerns, lack of talent and bench strength, favoritism and nepotism, failure to evolve with updated skills and market demands, and the prioritization of personal gains over merit and justice. Furthermore, the absence of proper selection processes, political interference, and the country's broader issues such as political instability, economic struggles, and social unrest have also contributed to the decline of Pakistani cricket. This decline is a reflection of the larger issues plaguing Pakistan, where corruption, nepotism, and mismanagement have become entrenched in many institutions, hindering progress and development. Until these issues are addressed, it's unlikely that we'll see a turnaround in the team's performance or the country's prospects for growth and progress. The fate of Pakistani cricket is inextricably linked with the fate of Pakistan itself, and both require a comprehensive overhaul to restore glory and dignity.

Is Cricket a dying Sport 🏏 🏏 In past few years cricket is the talking points in most countries and this was well heard from both ICC officials and the top national boards. 🏏 The Twenty20 format has revolutionize cricket. And this is the tipping point of diluting the sport in India. Till IPL it was ok but now every state has its own super 20 league which was technically the last nail on the coffin. 🏏 Those in charge of controlling cricket are not actively investing in growth initiatives, nor could they really be bothered to do so. 🏏 Despite the ICC’s claims, the reality is that cricket is losing popularity across the globe. 🏏 New national teams are inconsistent, boards are scrounging to stay financially afloat, and grassroots initiatives have produced underwhelming results. 🏏 The standard of play has fallen so bad that in test cricket players are often seen to replicate T20 shots and viewers are often left to watch the same monotonous tours featuring an ever dwindling round robin of nations. 🏏 T20 format has condensed the sport more digestible to viewers, and the test cricket charm is completely lost due to heavy investments in the T20 leagues. 🏏 Funding inequality has drained funds for lower level team. 🏏 India won World Cup a decade back and since then after spending millions of dollars in this sport hardly they have made any significant impact or improvement in the sports. 🏏 Only winning Home Series has become the agenda and the focus on grassroots efforts are not effective enough to make it into the international standard. 🏏 You need not even be a cricket fan to understand the shrinking interest of the sport. 🏏 Anything too much is not good for health and this stands true for cricket as well. 🏏 Players are groomed and trained in a club but not by a Franchise Team. Is IPL making players a good question but yes IPL has some positive impact on Indian Cricket but to develop a player we need local clubs who scouts young talents and registered them immediately and train them with professionally managed coaches. 🏏 Cricket continues to remain a closed shop and I seriously fear that the game will disintegrate into oblivion. A sad fate indeed for the gentleman’s game. Alas myopia is a disease as we have long suffered in world cricket and it begs that we ask the question, Is the Game of Cricket truly dying a slow and painful death? Or is it just simply a case of ABSOLUTE POWER CORRUPTING, bringing about the death of cricket.
