A new legislative change to Law no. 17/2014 on certain measures regulating the sale of extra muros agricultural land, which also amends Law no. 268/2001 on the privatisation of companies that manage public and private state-owned land for agricultural use and the establishment of the State Domains Agency ("Law 17"), has been proposed in the Romanian Senate with the aim of introducing a new category of pre-emptors: owners of land adjoining extra muros arable land, regardless of the emplacement thereof within or without the city limits and regardless of the category of use of such lands.  Roxana Roman (Dudau), Partner, Head of Real Estate & Construction and Antonia Nica Senior Associate, Real Estate & Construction, Wolf Theiss detailed the draft of the legislative change. https://lnkd.in/dhGrTpw4

🏗️ To achieve the #BuildingShift by 2040 and protect our open spaces, we need to make more efficient use of the space we have left. This is also referred to as increasing spatial efficiency. Several tools have already been adopted to support this goal. Two key instruments involve deviating from outdated urban planning regulations in Special Zoning Plans (BPA’s) and subdivision plans. 📝 Els Empereur (BE), public law expert and director, together with Deniz Bahtijarevic, senior associate, co-authored an article on this topic in the “Tijdschrift voor Bouwrecht en Onroerend Goed (#TBO)”.
