Recently, Ulises Rojas-Alva had the opportunity to visit the Efectis fire laboratories in Les Aveniers, located in Southeast France. Efectis a member of the EGOLF network, boasts testing capabilities, state-of-the-art facilities, and a highly skilled team. The visit centered on productive discussions surrounding battery fire testing—an area of increasing importance in fire safety research. This visit further solidifies the relationship between FRISSBE-ZAG and Efectis, highlighting our roles as sister laboratories within the EGOLF community. Both institutions share similar capabilities in standard fire testing, and our collaboration reflects a mutual commitment to advancing fire safety knowledge and practices. While we did not directly collaborate on projects like façade testing, we recognize the parallel efforts being undertaken in both research facilities. Additionally, our ERA Chair, Prof Grunde Jomaas, previously collaborated with Efectis as part of the EU FireStat project, demonstrating the longstanding professional ties between our teams. We are excited about the possibilities this strengthened connection brings and look forward to hosting the Efectis team at our fire laboratory in Slovenia. This ongoing exchange of expertise and capabilities will help drive innovation and collaboration in fire safety testing and research. A big thanks to Eric Guillaume and his team for such a warm welcome.

It will be a great change in strategic direction regarding the safety of maritime transport in its areas of oil, gas and chemical tankers. Naturally... it always depends on the skills of the person applying the tool, so the training of the inspectors is essential, both in technical aspects and in relation to the human element. We are eager to share that FAST-ACT was a proud participant at this year's Chemical Biological Operational Analysics (CBOA) 2024, hosted mid-April at Camp LeJeune. CBOA is an initiative kicked off by the Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) under the Chemical and Biological Defense Program (CBDP). During this week-long field experiment that allows Joint Force members to test new technology while investigating mock-WMD threat scenarios, we showcased our cutting-edge Pressurized Decontamination Cylinders, designed to provide rapid and effective response capabilities in hazardous situations, specifically against chemical threat decontamination and neutralization.
