Herein lies the problem... Looking for an image to accompany this blog of ' nail biting stuff' led me only to find images of glossy nails, and high tech nail art! As a gardener my nails are never quite like those of the ever expanding false nail brigade, many of whom I love dearly – but that’s not why I began this blog! https://lnkd.in/eqVc9aBp

I have two autographs I have obtained, in person. One is from Jerry Rice, who my brother and I saw in the Las Vegas airport several years ago and the other is from Lajohn Witherspoon, the frontman from one of my absolute favorite bands, Sevendust. These two famous people had polar opposite personalities when I met them. Jerry Rice was rude and arrogant and gave me a look that said "you want an autograph from me? Who are you and why should I give you one?" I did get the autograph but I recall what a diva like attitude he had and him grudgingly giving me the autograph. I think he's one of the greatest WR's of all time and seeing this side of him really disappointed me. Lajohn Witherspoon on the other hand was amazing, welcoming and very friendly. Now, this was a planned event and maybe that was the difference but I'm fairly certain if I saw Lajohn in an airport he'd be cool about it. What is my point? People remember your interactions with them, especially if it is something unique and memorable in their lives. I'll likely never meet Jerry or Lajohn again but I'll never forget how my interactions with them played out. The same idea can be said for how we interact with people in our role as a code officials, especially if what we are explaining to them is impactful to their lives, and it often is. Will they remember you being helpful and empathetic to their situation (even if you can't help them) or will they remember someone who was difficult, combative and closed off to discussing alternative solutions for their situation? That is up to you. #customerservice #interactions #codeofficial #buildingdepartment #empathy #understanding

🚨 **Williams-Sonoma Takes on Dupe Culture ** 🚨 Williams-Sonoma has filed a lawsuit against Carrot Cart, the company behind Dupe.com, for false advertising, copyright infringement, and unfair competition. The lawsuit claims Dupe.com's reverse image search misleads consumers by promoting cheaper, low-quality imitations of WSI-owned brands like West Elm and Pottery Barn. Williams-Sonoma also accuses Dupe.com of fabricating social media reviews and making false claims about product pricing. The company seeks injunctive relief and monetary damages to stop the use of its images and address the impact on its reputation. Dupe culture refers to the growing trend of creating and marketing products that closely mimic or "dupe" high-end, branded goods at a fraction of the cost. #trademarklawyer #IntellectualProperty #DupeCulture #Innovation #LegalBattles #BrandProtection #ConsumerRights

Beware of pickpockets. But not like the ones in the movies. If you talk to someone who’s mastered the art of pickpocketing, they’ll tell you how unrealistic the “bump and grab” method is that you see in films. You know how it goes down. The con artist bumps into a person in a crowded place, and it isn’t until much later that the mark realizes his wallet is missing. But pickpocketing is much more subtle, and it involves more contact in the process. You need a scenario where the person you’re stealing from has become comfortable with you getting close. Who are the greatest pickpockets? Laziness and entitlement. They’re subtle. Don’t get comfortable with them around. You think they’re innocent, maybe even a little helpful. But they’re grasping at something. They’ll steal your joy. And likely your wallet.

Day17: (From the 34 days challenge) "Memory is as easy as a P.I.E. 🛠 Place, Imagine, Entwine * Place, it's going to be the first thing you pay attention to before you meet a person or, probably the last thing you see when you say goodbye. * Imagine the name of the person turning into a picture. * Entwine, means to put together ( the Place + the Image) using: ✅ Emotion. ✅Visualisation. ✅Action. ✅ Exaggeration. 💡 if a woman has Ginger hair and her name is hanna, you can imagine that a banana is on her head to remember. 💡 if a person has a nice cap and his name is Stash, you can imagine a moustache drawn on his cap to remember. So far we talked about the M.O.M technique, the BE SUAVE technique and now covered the PIE technique. You don't have to do all these things but anything is better than forgetting a person's name. * Genius Leaves clues. * Making Pictures Helps us Remember Better". Jim Kwik
