Christmas can be a time to be nostalgic, to remember, to revisit old traditions, and to do so with FRIENDS deepens relationships as we share. One of my favourite festive memories is the Christmas Song Challenge. It involves getting together with FRIENDS and/or family, and seeing how many first verses of Christmas songs you can sing without the help of a song book or Google search. You will be surprised just how many you can recall between you and the added benefits of a good lung workout (singing is extremely beneficial for health and wellbeing) and lots of laughter make it an event you’ll want to invite FRIENDS to share, and include on your calendar this year, and for many to come. Are you feeling the Christmas overwhem yet? If so I’m sure you’re not alone. Last year, I made some reels to talk about the different ways our thoughts can sabotage us during the festive period, including tips to tackle them. I thought they were worth a reshare. So here is the first instalment: 🎄Christmas Saboteurs: The Judge Part 1 How does the judge show up for you at this time of year? Christmas is supposed to be a time of love and joy but often it can become a time of stress and overwhelm. A lot of this can be down to our saboteurs and the big boss of these is the Judge! When our Judge is active we judge ourselves, others and circumstances and one small negative thought can spiral out of control to have a much bigger negative impact on our wellbeing and trigger the Judge in those around us. This definitely doesn’t bring the joy, love and connection we hope for at Christmas time. Let me know what resonated for you in the video and how the Judge shows up for you at this time or year. And check out part 2 tomorrow for some tips on how to tackle the Judge. 💚

Sunday Scaries - It’s a short week for a lot of us 🎉 Happy Sunday friends! Hopefully today brings you less of a “Sunday Scaries” vibe and more of a feeling of hopeful anticipation for time with loved ones over the holiday. As for me, this is the first year that we put up our Christmas tree BEFORE Thanksgiving. To quote my daughter: “Mom, the turkey doesn't taste any different with the Christmas tree up.” 😆😂 Reminders for the week: 1. Schedule your OOO email and try to not check it when you are out. 2. Focus on critical to do list items that have to get completed before you are OOO. 3. Decide what you can say no to or defer until December 2 so you can thouroughly enjoy the holiday. May your week and holiday be filled with family, health, laughter and joy.

🎄 As Christmas approaches, it can be SO hard to take time out for yourself. There is so much to do, buying and wrapping presents 🎁, planning Christmas with relatives, ordering the turkey, carol concerts, Christmas parties, visits to Santa 🎅…. and so much more. ⏰ It can feel like there is no time to slow down until the last presents are wrapped on Christmas Eve. But this pressure can take a toll on your mental and physical health, leading to stress and exhaustion. 😫😥 How often have you looked forward to time off at Christmas, only to get ill as soon as you switch off and relax? 🤒 ❤️ Being kinder to yourself at this time of year can help to reduce stress so that you enjoy the lead up to Christmas and all the holiday festivities. Will you commit to taking time out for yourself every day in December, even if only for 10 minutes❓ Maybe you could: • Meet a friend for coffee and a chat ☕ • Spend 20 minutes reading a favourite book 📖 • Have a mini spa at home (face mask, hair treatment, body scrub) 🛀 • Go for a walk outside in nature 🍂 • Sit outside with a cup of tea and daydream 🫖 • Take 10 minutes to dance to your favourite feel good music 🎧 If you’re struggling to manage your stress or to find time for yourself then I can help – just DM me to arrange a chat. #Christmasstress #Stressreset #HealthCoaching #taketimeout

Bah Humbug! Why Christmas is Not Easy for Everyone! By Sally Cross, Therapeutic Life & Relationship Coach for the Midlife & Senior Years. Ah, the holiday season. For many, it signals fun, joy and togetherness. However, for a significant number of us, this time of year is often challenging. The phrase "Bah Humbug" captures the feelings of those of us for whom the festive season can be overwhelming, isolating, sad or stressful. Let’s explore the lesser-known aspects of Christmas that make it tough for many. The Pressure to Celebrate One major reason for a "Bah Humbug" feeling is the overwhelming pressure to celebrate. Society creates high expectations, with the assumption that everyone should enjoy family gatherings, parties and exchanging of gifts. Not everyone has the time, money or feelings to embrace these traditions. Many feel stressed about Christmas time due to societal pressures and expectations. A Call for Understanding The magic of Christmas time shines brightly for many, but it is essential to remember the struggles faced by others. By understanding and empathising with those experiencing a "Bah Humbug" Christmas, we can foster more inclusive and supportive environments. This festive season, let’s be mindful of those around us. A kind gesture, listening ear or simply encouraging someone to share how they feel can transform someone's experience. After all, the true essence of the Christmas season is rooted in kindness and compassion, qualities we should all strive to celebrate. If this is a time of year that is difficult for you, I truly understand..I've walked that path. If you would like to talk over your feelings and challenges, then I'm here for you. Here to empathically listen... Read the full blog here: https://lnkd.in/eWNKtkJP

🎆 Staying Sober This July 4th 🎆 Here are some tips to help you enjoy the festivities while staying committed to your sobriety: 🎆 Stay Connected: Lean on your healthy support system. They’re there for you! 🎆 Communicate: Let a trusted friend or family member know about your commitment to sobriety. 🎆 Sober Buddy: Bring a sober friend along for extra support. 🎆 Plan Ahead: Decide in advance how long you’ll stay at the event. Set limits! 🎆 Exit Strategy: Have a plan to leave if needed. Don’t wait until you’re overwhelmed. It’s okay to leave early if you need to. 🎆 Have a Response Ready: If someone asks why you’re not drinking, have a simple answer ready. “I’m driving” works perfectly. Did you know that Sweden is ranked among the happiest countries in the world by the World Happiness Report? And did you also know that Sweden is at the top of the global candy consumption rankings, consuming an impressive 35 pounds of candy annually! I strongly believe that Swedish candy and their tradition of ''lördagsgodis'', or "Saturday candy," could be the key to their happiness. Every weekend, both children and adults dedicate part of their Saturdays to enjoying a selection of their favorite sweets at home. By confining candy consumption to one day a week, Swedes not only avoid daily indulgence but also create a sense of excitement and anticipation for Saturday, making the treats even more enjoyable. So, here’s to the Swedes, who prove that sometimes happiness is as simple as savoring the little things in life. Maybe we could all benefit from embracing a bit of their sweet tradition and finding joy in the moments we set aside for ourselves. #sweden #candy #scandanavia #sweets #children #happiness #swede #swedish #tradition #worldhappinessreport #happy #stockholm
