The odyssey of a curtain track Join us in a walk down memory lane to see how one of our most iconic products was meticulously crafted 38 years ago, embodying our dedication to durability and excellence. Upon Preben's untimely death in 1970, his oldest son Ole took over the company. At this point, production had shifted from the original venetian blinds to curtain tracks and rods. In 1984, Ole decided to enter a new market. Gordon Notto in Oslo was the company's biggest commercial customer, and he wanted a more solid rod with fewer brackets and more accessories, which could also be used in large office buildings, schools, institutions, etc. Ole invested in new tools and materials and after 2 years of hard work, the Aluproff 2001 curtain track was released. The number was inspired by Stanley Kubrick's movie '2001 – A Space Odyssey' and was meant to emphasize that the track belonged to the future – a prediction that has proven to be true, as it is still one of our bestsellers. As the current CEO of Stilling, Thomas Trads Hansen, says, it's 'the Levi's 501 of curtain tracks.' By the end of 1986, Ole and his brother Anders rented a cheap car to go visit all the curtain wholsalers in Europe they knew of, to present the 2001 track. It was a big success for Stilling. AP 2001 marked the beginning of a long series of professional profiles, and to this day, our focus remains on professional rods and accessories - but now made with more responsible materials. AP 2001 was also (along with AP 2005) the world's first curtain track produced with 75% recycled aluminum. As we continue to evolve, our commitment to crafting solutions that last remains at the core of our mission. #since1949
