Raw Edge, at its core, a #circulareconomy #startup, contributing to a well thought-out food system through #upcycling. From the get-go, our aim has been to make our efforts count by helping lessen the impact on #planetaryhealth and support a more resilient food system and human health. Our goal is to valorise local raw ingredients in every target market through a three-tier franchise model, and as today's experience shows, improve supply chain collaboration. In doing so, we also help avoid unnecessary transportation, empower local communities through employment, and support people's health while enhancing health awareness more broadly. In providing our circular economy business model with a tangible structure and sufficient specificity, we have had a tremendous amount of help by ESG expert Mati Fjodorov (welcome on board!) and circular economy expert Kadi Kenk. Thank you! Onwards and upwards 😎 #rawedge #startup #betterfoodsystem #foodtech #fermentation #sustainability #mentors #planetaryhealth #esg #taltech #sciencebased

✨ Introducing the CIRCULAZE Top 22 Circular Economy Start-ups 2024 ✨ Meet Planet A Foods 👋 Founder/s: Dr. Sara Marquart, Dr. Maximilian Marquart Category: Food & Beverages Based In: Munich, Germany What They Do: Planet A Foods is an innovative start-up dedicated to developing sustainable food products. Their main focus is on producing chocolate without the use of cocoa. Using proprietary technology, the company ferments plant-based ingredients to naturally recreate flavors. Natural ingredients and by-products of the food industry, such as oats, become the foundation for a variety of flavors. This approach allows the use of sustainable, local plants instead of importing cocoa plants from Africa or the Americas. Through fermentation and roasting, Planet A Foods produces ChoViva concentrate and ChoViva butter. Together, they form ChoViva – a cocoa-free chocolate with a delicious aroma and taste, while generating 90% less CO2. With this innovation, the company aims to drastically reduce the environmental footprint of chocolate production. 🔗 Find out more: https://lnkd.in/e4zs3rbN #CIRCULAZE #StartUps #CircularEconomy #CloseTheLoopOpenOpportunities

🌍 Shocking but true 🌍 Nearly 20% of food system emissions come from transportation! A simple way to help reduce this impact is by choosing to eat from local places that source their ingredients from nearby markets. By doing so, you're not only supporting the local economy but also contributing to a healthier environment. 💚 It's a small shift with a BIG impact, better for your plate, your community, and our planet! 🌱 #EatLocal #Sustainability #EcoFriendly #SupportLocal #ClimateAction #Innovation #startup #FoodIndustry

🌍 Europe takes the lead in the global Food & Climate VC funding In 2023, European climate-focused Food & AgTech startups attracted over $2 billion in VC funding, surpassing the United States in global climate Food & AgTech funding for the first time. Rising challenges from climate change and a growing population are constraining food systems: as the world reaches nearly 9.7 billion people by 2050, we must achieve a staggering 70% increase in food production to ensure global food security. In our Food for Climate Report 2024 with Dealroom.co, we analyzed how innovative Food and AgTech ventures are driving change toward a more sustainable future. Here are our top findings: 🍃 Fermentation-based startups have seen substantial growth, with funding increasing twelve-fold since 2020. In 2023, these startups secured $76 million in venture capital, accounting for 22% of the total investment in European alternative protein startups. 🍫 Alternative cocoa startups raised $69 million in 2023, more than doubling the previous year, responding to surging prices and environmental concerns. ♻ Sustainable packaging and biomaterials startups collectively secured over $100 million, with biomaterials alone growing by 238% year-over-year. “To address some of Europe's most pressing challenges, we urgently need to finance and support innovative food solutions that help us adapt to a changing climate and mitigate its effects, while securing our food supply,” said Christophe Maire, our Founding Partner.
