Community Care in Action: All In When I was in a nursing home, one organization quietly stood out—All In Monterey County. They didn’t seek recognition but brought light when it was most needed. All In provided donations like clothes, earrings, and essentials, restoring dignity to residents who had so little. I’ll never forget gathering over 40 bags of clothing with their help, ensuring everyone had something that brought comfort and joy. But All In’s work went beyond the walls of the nursing home. They shared resources that continue to help me even now, reminding me of the power of community care and compassion. To the angels at All In: Thank you. Your kindness and action saved me when I felt forgotten. You are proof that when we come together, we can create ripples of healing and hope. This is the kind of world we need—a world where we uplift the vulnerable, honor dignity, and foster true connection. About All In Monterey County All In is a compassionate organization that provides: • The Giving Market: Non-perishable goods for humans and pets (Tuesdays and Fridays, 4:30–6:00 PM, Marina High School). • The Kindness Closet: Hygiene items, household goods, toys, and clothing (available in emergencies). • Grocery Deliveries: Weekly deliveries to families in Salinas, Seaside, Marina, and nearby areas. • Food Drives: Weekly distributions at Monterey Peninsula College (Wednesdays, 4:00–6:00 PM). Learn more at allinmonterey.org. All In’s work is a reminder that change happens when we lead with compassion. #LaurenSpeaksUp #PeopleOverProfit #KindnessMatters #CompassionFirst #DignityForAll #HealingTogether #AdvocacyMatters #CommunityCare #NoCountryForOldPeople #SystemicNeglect #FightingForChange #AllInMatters Martha L. This summer, kids 18 and under can eat for free at 14 library locations. Starting June 18, lunch will be served Tuesdays through Fridays from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. (except on Juneteenth and Independence Day) Last year, the library served 11,421 lunches to kids throughout Sacramento County. During the summer, 88% of kids who get meals at school don’t have access over summer break. Lunch at the Library supports food equity in our community with meal sites within our neighborhoods. Learn more at saclibrary.org/lunch.

My winning product when I had a cat accessory store was a “cat” handbag. We sold $400k worth of it, but it didn’t sell at first…at all. Here’s what I did to make it stand out: 1. Gave it an adorable memorable name (I called it the Meow Kors lol) 2. Played with pricing strategy so that we broke even and made our money back by upselling a similar wallet. 3. Made sure the bag had the compartments other “cat” bags lacked. 4. Created a solid guarantee and trustworthy policy Those four points helped but not what sold the product. So here is what really sold the product: Understanding my market - cat ladies. Through the product I made them: 1. Feel seen (crazy cat lady? No, class cat lady) 2. Be proud of their love for cats 3. Show off their passion to taking care of cats (most volunteered at shelters, advocated for cats, or fostered/bred cats) 4. Created a safe space to express themselves without the need to be boxed into a negative labeling. I loved that store not because of the products we sold (although they were awesome!) but becuase of the community it sparked. Best part? We help fund and spread awareness to end cat declawing in several stays. 🐾
