I had the unique opportunity to moderate an insightful session at the #MilkenInstitute #Asia #Summit 2024 on #Rwanda in Focus: Investment and Innovation for #Growth. This session provided an incredible platform to explore Rwanda's remarkable journey—often called the "#Singapore of #Africa." Over the last 30 years, Rwanda's #GDP grew nearly tenfold, reflecting extraordinary resilience, strategic vision, and leadership. Rwanda is fast becoming a #beacon of progress in Africa embodying the principle of #AfricansolutionsforAfricanproblems by addressing challenges with homegrown innovations while remaining open to adopting successful models from other parts of the world. The establishment of Africa's first #mRNA vaccine manufacturing facility is a testament to the nation's commitment to #health #sovereignty and self-reliance, allowing it to play a crucial role in combating future #pandemics. Often referred to as a "#miracleinthemaking," Rwanda’s focus on technological advancement, healthcare infrastructure, and sustainable development is setting the stage for a transformative future not just for the country, but for Africa as a whole. We examined the key drivers behind Rwanda's rapid economic transformation, focusing on areas such as sustainability, innovation, gender inclusion, and eco-tourism. As a moderator, I highlighted Rwanda's journey using the acronym #RESILIENT, which captures the essence of the country’s success: - R - Rapid Economic Growth - E.- Ease of Doing Business - S - Safety and Stability - I. - Innovation in Technology - L.- Leadership in Environmental Sustainability - I - Inclusive Gender Policies - E - Eco-Tourism and Conservation - N - National Vision 2050 - T - Transformation These points underscored Rwanda’s achievements and its vision for the future, where innovation and sustainability drive growth. We were privileged to hear from a distinguished panel of leaders, including: - Jean de dieu Uwihanganye Rwanda's High Commissioner to Singapore, #Australia, and #NewZealand, - Francis Gatare CEO, Rwanda Development Board. - Teddy Mpinganzima Mugabo, CEO of the Rwanda Green Fund and - Linda Rusagara Mutesi, Minister of State for Public Investments and Resource Mobilization. This session was a powerful reflection of Rwanda's #transformation, and it left us inspired by the country’s future potential. I was grateful for the opportunity to moderate this discussion and learn from some of the brightest minds shaping Rwanda's dynamic path forward. #RwandaInFocus #EmergingMarkets #Innovation #Sustainability #EconomicGrowth #Leadership #Rwanda Curtis S.
