Today I had the pleasure of presenting the UN Global Compact Network Finland’s SME Sustainability Group on the CSRD Double Materiality Assessment (DMA). We went through things specifically from the point of view of SMEs, which often means operating under the constraints dictated by scarce resources. Tough questions and good discussion, many thanks to everyone involved!   The cross-pressure on SMEs in sustainability matters is high, and there is more to be done, e.g. as enquiries from large client companies obliged by CSRD increase. In a nutshell, I would summarize from our discussion that: (1) Keep cool and focus on the essentials, the material topics in sustainability (2) Even in a small company, materiality assessment should also and above all be used as an opportunity to create something new and more sustainable in its business and strategy (3) In the cross-pressure of different external information requirements, it is a good idea to try to get into the driver's seat in discussions. This is more successful when the material sustainability aspects of your own company and value chain are mastered   Let's keep the conversation going and remember to focus your sustainability efforts on actions that truly make an impact, especially amidst the turbulence of reporting requirements!

Prysmian Group’s sustainability leadership was confirmed in the prestigious Dow Jones Sustainability World Index (DJSI World) after the annual evaluation of companies' sustainability practices performed by S&P Global through its Corporate Sustainability Assessment. In the 2023 edition, Prysmian, which is included in the ELQ Electrical Components & Equipment sector, reached excellence (100 points) in the environmental areas of Emissions, Resource Efficiency and Circularity, Waste, and Water, reaffirming its focus and attention on these topics. https://lnkd.in/e_gpHbf7
