“The Backyard” is a Glavovic Studio project that would repurpose old #shipping containers in Fort Lauderdale, Florida into a new #community space where people can eat, drink, and socialize in a dynamic #environment. Our project proposes a series of linked container spaces, bringing #sustainable design and lush #landscaping to Flagler Village, Fort Lauderdale’s #arts and #cultural hub. The repurposing of shipping containers also helps fight #pollution and reduce #energy consumption, protecting our #environment. #art #architecture #urbandesign #design #culture #511barandlounge #florida #southflorida #fortlauderdale

Mid-way between Oslo and Bergen (Norway), set against the stunning backdrop of Hardangervidda, this remarkable cabin is designed to be used throughout the year. Inspired by the traditional Norwegian "gapahuk shelter", the design creates a sense of openness, allowing the shifting panorama to take center stage. Built at an elevation of 1066 meters, this project faced many challenges, from the remote location with no road access to extreme weather conditions. With a foundation of pillars on bedrock and generous eaves to protect against frost, this cabin is a testament to sustainable materials such as Kebony wood in extreme environments. Do you have an ambitious project in a remote or challenging location? Learn how Kebony’s wood solutions can stand up to the toughest conditions. I've had the privilege of working on some of the world's tallest buildings in bustling city centers, but there's something uniquely rewarding about returning to the familiar and creating spaces that resonate with our childhood memories. At FlyingArchitecture studio, we recently had the opportunity to work on a project that embodies this sentiment – the Houses in the Grove in Bojnice. This project allowed us to step back from the towering skyscrapers and immerse ourselves in the tranquility of nature. It's a reminder that architecture is not just about pushing boundaries and reaching new heights, but also about creating harmony between the built environment and the natural world. 🌿 The Houses in the Grove project challenged us to design homes that seamlessly blend with their surroundings, drawing inspiration from the lush greenery and the nostalgic charm of Bojnice. We carefully considered every element, from the choice of materials to the placement of windows, to ensure that each home not only provides a comfortable living space but also serves as a testament to the beauty of its environment. As artists, we have a unique opportunity to shape the way people interact with their surroundings. Projects like the Houses in the Grove remind us of the importance of creating spaces that nurture our connection with nature and evoke a sense of belonging. It's in these moments, when we step away from the hustle and bustle of city life and embrace the simplicity of our roots, that we find true inspiration and fulfillment in our work. What is your favorite kind of project?🏙️ #FlyingArchitecture #Architecture #Studio #Nature

𝙑𝙚𝙧𝙙𝙖𝙣𝙩 𝙎𝙥𝙝𝙚𝙧𝙚 𝙎𝙝𝙚𝙡𝙩𝙚𝙧: The experimental This conceptual design presents a harmonious blend of futuristic architecture and natural tranquility. The image showcases spherical, pod-like dwellings nestled amidst lush greenery and ancient trees. These eco-friendly habitats are characterized by their organic shapes and large, circular windows that provide immersive, panoramic views of the surrounding landscape. The materials appear to be a combination of natural wood for the interiors, enhancing the warmth and inviting atmosphere, and an insulated, reinforced cob exterior that does not affect the environment, thus minimizing visual impact. The integration of green roofs suggests a commitment to sustainability, helping to regulate the temperature within while also supporting local flora. A serene water feature encircles the pods, promoting a sense of peace and relaxation. The entire setting is designed to foster a connection with nature, offering a secluded retreat that emphasizes well-being and environmental consciousness. This is a place where innovative living spaces and untouched nature exist in synergy, offering an idyllic escape from the urban hustle. #conceptualdesign #TAKTIKDesignThinkingLab

The realization of the winning competition project Aura in Poznań has just begun! The building is a unique combination of architecture and greenery. The main idea was to minimally interfere with the existing ecosystem and, as far as possible, enrich it. The park-like character of the surrounding area, as well as the topography and the slopes present here, were the starting point for the idea of the whole establishment. The idea emerged that the body of the building should grow out of the existing pile-up of the site and, as it were, be an extension of it, creating a green hill. Users of the entire building can thus be in direct contact with the greenery, available at their fingertips as soon as they step out onto the terrace or loggia of each floor. The unique façade system allows not only to regulate humidity and air temperature inside the building, but also in the immediate surroundings. This is architecture that realistically affects living conditions through a favorable microclimate. Plants here will grow on a special structure, creating a vertical garden. A peculiar air cushion will be created between it and the facade, which will be a natural insulator, protecting primarily against the heating of the building during hot weather. The greenery will be watered by an automatic system using retention water collected on the plot. The automation will minimize traditional maintenance by human hand. Irrigation of the plants will come 90% from filtered rainwater and snowmelt. The watering system will be powered by photovoltaic panels located on the roof. The realization of such an unusual idea would not have been possible without the cooperation of conscious investors, first of all Piotr Voelkel. It was his involvement that also brought designers and artists into the creation of the project, adding layers to it. The Mode:lina studio is responsible for the interior design of the common areas. They will feature, among others, works by Alicja Biala and Oskar Zięta, created especially for the place. The Kerarapon Homes are fraternal residences exploring a new genre of Savannah Brutalism, an architectural language that merges the raw, expressive qualities of Brutalist design with the unique demands of a Savannah landscape. Emerging seamlessly from the arid terrain, the homes are defined by material austerity, employing rugged textures and minimalist forms that echo the environment. Indigenous landscaping forms the foundation of the design, mediating the interaction between the built form and its surroundings. Beyond aesthetic value, the landscaping establishes sustainability principles, regulates microclimates, and defines spatial thresholds—differentiating public and private realms while guiding the spatial experience. These homes embrace passive sustainability through features like thermal mass, natural ventilation, and strategic shading, ensuring environmental harmony. Simultaneously, the design is rooted in accessibility, creating spaces that are inclusive and functional for all users. The Kerarapon Homes redefine the Brutalist genre, offering a bold yet sensitive response to their ecological and social context, showcasing how architecture can be both austere and deeply attuned to its landscape. #SavannahBrutalism #AfricanArchitecture #AfricanModernism #KenyanArchitecture #StudioMehta #house #Karen #courtyard #outdoorliving #deezen #archdaily #architizer

The #design of this #underground #residence in #Paros is not merely an exercise in maximizing the benefits of increased #building volume that comes with subterranean structures. Instead, it aspires to transcend traditional architectural boundaries by integrating the built #environment with the natural #landscape. The serpentine layout draws inspiration from the organic forms of rock structures, embodying a seamless connection between shelter and scenery. This approach operates within a delicate #balance between the #artificial and the #natural. The design seeks to remind us that buildings can be immersive environments that echo the shapes and #textures of the #earth itself. By allowing the contours of the residence to mimic the #flow of the landscape, we create a #dialogue between human #habitation and the surrounding #ecosystem. The result is a dwelling that feels as though it has emerged from the very #ground upon which it sits, rather than being imposed upon it. This harmonious #relationship invites inhabitants to experience their living space as part of a larger whole, fostering a sense of tranquility and belonging within the #natural #world. The underground residence stands as a testament to the potential of architecture to not only accommodate but also celebrate and preserve the beauty of nature.
