QR codes are everywhere, even if you don't want them to be (restaurants are the first thing that comes to mind). It isn't a surprise that they are the latest frontier for scammers to manipulate. The main protection is being super careful of the source of the code and the link that pops up when you scan it, before you click it. "Quishing, a variation on phishing, in which fraudsters send fake messages designed to steal personal data or download spyware or malware onto devices. Inspect the URL before tapping to open it. If you don’t recognize the URL, know that you could be linking to a scam site. Even if the URL appears to belong to a company or organization you know, check carefully for misspellings or other suspicious errors within the URL." #qrcodes #scammers #cybersecurity #spyware #malware
