The UK government said it is funding 𝟭𝟭 𝗻𝗲𝘄 𝗴𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝗵𝘆𝗱𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗲𝗻 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁𝘀 across England, Scotland, and Wales, which it claims will be among the first commercial-scale projects in the world 🌱 Chancellor Rachel Reeves announced the funding plan during in a fall 2024 budget speech, allocating 𝗚𝗕𝗣 𝟯.𝟵 𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗼𝗻 ($𝟱 𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗼𝗻) for green hydrogen producers and 𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗯𝗼𝗻 𝗰𝗮𝗽𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘇𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗮𝗴𝗲 (𝗖𝗖𝗨𝗦) 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁𝘀 in the 2025-26 period. Join Prakash Sharma, Roshna N, Sohan Gwalani and Cecilie Kristiansen on 25 September as they discuss the opportunities and investment outlook for oil and gas, renewables, hydrogen and CCUS across our energy transition scenarios. In Africa, 42% of the population lack access to electricity and 70% of the population lack access to clean cooking fuels. The challenge is unique to the region and is vital for social well-being, economic development and climate objectives. The opportunity is immense, as the GDP is projected to increase from US$3 trillion in 2022 to US$7.6 trillion by 2050. #EnergyTransitions #CCUS #Hydrogen #Renewables #EnergyInvestments Register now: https://okt.to/BGtldc

Egypt is serious about hydrogen. The country is positioning itself to play a leading role in the supply of hydrogen and its derivatives for the developing low carbon hydrogen economy. To achieve this, Egypt will take advantage of its competitiveness to fulfil its ambitious plans for the hydrogen sector, targeting up to 8% (5.6 MTPA) of the tradable market by 2040 and requiring around 60 USD billion of investment. Leveraging the country's experience in both grey and electrolytic hydrogen production and ammonia production and export, Egypt can quickly establish itself as a major global hydrogen hub. Additionally, the country's renewables and gas reserves, combined with Egypt's strategic location, will position the country as a global leader as demand for low carbon hydrogen grows significantly over the next few decades. For further analysis on the opportunities and challenges facing Egypt's evolving hydrogen industry, tune in to the Middle East Institute's webinar on October 24th titled 'Navigating Egypt's Hydrogen Challenges: Natural Gas and Green Hydrogen.' "I was expecting low bids, but not this low." Kaya Partners Senior Advisor Gniewomir Flis 🌟 Long awaited news from the European Hydrogen Bank - The first auction awarded €720m to green hydrogen projects, and now winning bids have been announced, coming in at €0.37-0.48/kg for 1.5GW of capacity - far below the anticipated ceiling price of €4.50/kg. 📈 The auction saw fierce competition, with bids submitted for a total of 8GW, massively oversubscribing the available funding. Notably, the bids from Spanish and Portuguese producers dominated, suggesting these sunnier climates might be emerging as key hydrogen hubs in Europe. 🔋 The results could push the industry forward faster than expected. Most projects plan to come online within three years, promising a swift impact on Europe's green energy goals. This auction may not have closed the price gap with grey hydrogen entirely, but it signals strong industry momentum and a clear commitment to scaling up renewable energy solutions.
