Shanghai Airlines will open a new route connecting Shanghai and Casablanca in Morocco on Jan. 19, 2025, making the unit of China Eastern Airlines the first domestic carrier to serve the route. With Morocco offering visa-free entry for Chinese citizens, the new service provides additional travel options in time for the Chinese New Year that starts at the end of January.

Brazil, Colombia, and Mexico marked their best February in air passenger traffic ever. Chile led in domestic markets with a 20% surge, while Venezuela shone internationally with a 66% rise. In total, 38.5 million passengers –a remarkable 13.4% increase from last year– were mobilized. Nearly 306,000 flights were logged, up 9% from the same period in 2023. The slow recovery of the China-Europe air traffic market continues to pose challenges for European airlines. British Airways is reportedly closing the Beijing-London route in October; Virgin has done the same with the Shanghai route. The closure of Russian skies to European airlines puts them at a disadvantage compared to Chinese competitors who benefit from shorter flight times. This means less costs for Chinese carriers and better passenger experience. Chinese airlines have increased flights to Europe by 16% this summer versus 2019, while Chinese authorities are enticing more visitors by offering visa-free days. 🇨🇳 China outbound air ticket prices to fall to as low ¥100! ❄️ From October 27, China's domestic civil aviation sector will implement its winter-spring flight schedule, adding or increasing the frequency of several domestic and international routes. 🛫 These include Hainan Airlines’ new Shenzhen-Madrid route and Spring Airlines' new Shanghai-Busan route. 💴 With new route promotions and adjustments to flight schedules, some international tickets are set to be as low as ¥100 (US$ 14). ⛽️ Also, as of October 5, the fuel surcharge for domestic routes has been reduced. The fuel surcharge for adult passengers on domestic routes will now be ¥10 per person for flights of 800 kilometers or less, and ¥20 per person for flights longer than that. Cathay Pacific soars in February on passenger demand, cargo growth steady

Quito’s Mariscal Sucre International Airport has made remarkable strides, ranking fifth among major cargo airports in #LatinAmerica, as recognized by the International Council of Airports of Latin America and the Caribbean (ACI-LAC). The airport recorded an impressive 14.2% increase in cargo volumes, handling 335,407 tons last year—the highest percentage growth in the region.
