NEW BLOG The International Air Transport Association (IATA) has disclosed a significant rise in demand for global air cargo services for June 2024. According to the latest update from the trade association of the world’s airlines, there was a 14.1% jump in demand in cargo-tonne kilometres (CTKs) compared to the same month a year earlier. The organisation noted that this represented the seventh month in a row of double-digit year-on-year growth. 🚀 Air Cargo Business to and from Mexico is Booming! ✈️   For Germany, Mexico is the most important trade partner in Latin America, with a trade volume exceeding 29 billion Euro in 2023. German exports to Mexico alone amounted to 18.9 billion Euro. The main air cargo hub is the new Felipe Angeles International Airport (NLU), located just 45 km from Mexico City, where all cargo business has been shifted from the older airport in the country’s capital.   Our business partner @Amerijet International also expanded its operations to NLU last year. However, the infrastructure there has already proved to be too small. Just a few days ago, the Mexican government announced plans to expand the airport, including seven new cargo storage buildings, two platforms, and a new taxiway.    Once completed, this boost in air traffic will certainly enhance the operations of Amerijet International and benefit our customers who rely on us to handle freight to and from Mexico.   Here's to a brighter future in air cargo and the continued growth of our partnerships! 🌟📈   #AircargonetInternational #GSSA #airfreight #cargo #aircargo #MexicoTrade

Air cargo is amidst a “record peak season” in a year that saw nine months of double-digit year-on year growth, per International Air Transport Association (IATA) economist Ghislaine Lang. The post-COVID bounce-back in air cargo demand can be attributed in part to the continued expansion of e-commerce as well as responses to global disruptions in maritime shipping. Next year projects to be another year of growth, albeit at a slower pace than 2024, which came on the back of a weak market. One indication of expanded options for air cargo is Korean Airlines' recently finalized acquisition of Asiana Airlines. Lufthansa Cargo expands network and adds new destinations in China Lufthansa Cargo flies to two more Asian stations with its B777F long-haul fleet from its home hub in Frankfurt: The carrier has now added Shenzhen Boa’an International Airport (SZX) to its freighter network for the first time and will serve it twice a week in the future. The Lufthansa Group’s logistics expert has also recently started operating freighters to Zhengzhou (CGO) three days a week. “In the Chinese market, the e-commerce business segment in particular is growing steadily, and we continue to see high demand, especially to Europe. Accordingly, additional air freight capacity is needed to transport goods quickly, compliantly, and safely. With the expansion of our Asian network, we can now serve even more important freight destinations in China for our customers. This will be possible thanks to the new B777F freighter, which we expect to receive in the course of this summer. This will not only mean enabling global business for our customers in a sustainable way but also growing as a company in an important cargo region,” explains Ashwin Bhat, CEO of Lufthansa Cargo.
