✨ Marking International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women ✨ This week on Policy360: Unplugged, I had the privilege of speaking with Danielle Roberts, a passionate advocate for women’s rights and a driving force in policy reform. Our conversation dives deep into critical issues affecting women across Northern Ireland, including: 💠 The unique challenges facing women in Loyalist communities and their fight for representation. 💠 The intersection of gender and policy, and why women’s voices must be central to shaping our future. 💠 Practical steps policymakers can take to address violence against women and build safer communities. As we reflect on this important day, it’s vital to recognise the persistent barriers women face—domestic violence, economic inequality, and systemic discrimination. But it’s also a moment to shine a light on the incredible work being done by advocates like Danielle, who refuse to let these issues be ignored. 🎧 Tune in to the latest episode to hear Danielle’s insights, her call to action for policymakers, and the stories of resilience and courage from women who inspire change every day. Listen here: https://lnkd.in/eHt3nX9t Let’s commit to ensuring no woman’s voice goes unheard. Together, we can shape a more equal, just, and violence-free future. #Policy360Unplugged #EndViolenceAgainstWomen #InternationalDay #PolicyInfluence #WomenInLeadership

🆕 Status of Young Women in Scotland Survey! Across Scotland, young women and girls are struggling to have their basic human rights realised due to poor access to healthcare, precarious employment, the prevalence and persistence of gender-based violence, and the ongoing climate crisis. The Young Women's Movement flagship Status of Young Women in Scotland research for 2024-25 will focus on how young women understand, access and advocate for their human rights in Scotland. This is such a timely and important topic given the rising threats we're witnessing to young women's rights globally. Please share with young women you know, work and live with and encourage them to share their voices & experiences to help us influence change. We must continue to work towards a Scotland where young women's rights are progressed and upheld, insights from this research will enable The Young Women's Movement and others to continue advancing this work. Today marks the beginning of the #16DaysofActivismAgainstGenderBasedViolence. As an organization dedicated to empowering women in male-dominated media spaces, we stand in solidarity with women everywhere who face violence and inequality. While advocacy against gender-based violence is not directly in our mandate, it aligns deeply with our mission of equipping young women with skills, confidence, and a platform to share their stories. Through our work, we aim to break barriers, create opportunities, and amplify the voices of women who challenge injustice. The theme of this year’s campaign resonates with our belief in storytelling as a tool for change. By empowering young women in media, we are helping to create a world where their stories can inspire action and promote a culture of respect, equality, and safety. Let’s stand together to say: End Violence Against Women #16DaysOfActivism #EndViolenceAgainstWomen #CamerasForGirls #GenderEquality #WomenInMedia

I like these graphics - good to be able to tell horrifying stories in accessible ways.
Enough is enough. It's time for women's voices to be heard. That’s why we conducted our largest research project to date, engaging 6,636 women survivors of war, giving them the lead in defining and designing the research. Yesterday, we presented this alongside the UN Summit of the Future, amplifying women's calls for urgent action to protect their rights. 📢 Explore the research in more detail https://lnkd.in/eFQcAEHX #UN #SummitOfTheFuture #WomensRights #SupportWomen

I'm delighted to launch our theme for the Status of Young Women in Scotland 2024-25: Young women's human rights in Scotland. Across Scotland, young women and girls are struggling to have their basic human rights realised due to poor access to healthcare, precarious employment, the prevalence and persistence of gender-based violence, and the ongoing climate crisis. We know how embedded and integral human rights are to the issues that affect young women’s lives in Scotland, like the cost-of-living crisis, gender-based violence, and getting the right support at the right time. When deciding on the theme of SYWS 24-25, the young women involved in our movement told us that they want a better understanding of their own human rights, and how they might access high-quality, evidence-based information when they feel their rights may have been breached, violated, or ignored. If you are a young woman aged 16 to 30, we want to hear from you! Read more and fill in our survey here: https://lnkd.in/eBmh_4rb #genderequality #genderjustice #womensrights #humanrightsbill
