This course delves into the complex dynamics of death, dying, and bereavement within an ageing population, with a focus on understanding their psychosocial and cultural impacts, particularly from an Asian viewpoint. It explores how mortality shapes individuals, families, and societies, drawing from developmental, social, and community psychology. Moreover, it aims to equip individuals with practical skills to aid those encountering challenges related to death while stressing the significance of cultivating reflective practices to deepen personal understanding, nurture compassion, and foster a greater appreciation for life and personhood. 🌟 #CAYPPsychology & #BBCTinyHappyPeople on Rewards: Do they work and what are the best ways to reward my child? 🌟 We were thrilled to be featured again on BBC Tiny Happy People, where one of our #clinicalpsychologists, Barbara Di Benedetto shared an in-depth guide on how parents and caregivers can use rewards to nurture positive behaviours and help children overcome challenges. Here’s a quick look at her top tips: 1. Be Clear and Specific 🎯 – Give simple, focused instructions and link rewards to specific behaviours, like tidying up toys or going to bed calmly. 2. Stay Consistent 🔄 – Ensure everyone involved in your child’s care is aligned, creating a predictable and supportive reward system. 3. Combine Rewards with Praise 👏 – Pair rewards with warm verbal praise or high-fives to reinforce positivity. 4. Time Rewards Right ⏰ – Provide rewards promptly after the desired behaviour, especially for younger children who benefit from immediate reinforcement. 5. Use Immediate and Long-Term Rewards ⭐ – For quick wins, celebrate small acts, and for longer-term goals, use visual charts or jars to keep children motivated. 6. Keep It Positive 😊– Focus on what children should do rather than what they shouldn’t, and always be warm and encouraging, regardless of progress. 7. Review Regularly 📈 – Track progress and adapt if a reward isn’t effective, understanding that sometimes different approaches are needed Thank you, BBC Tiny Happy People, for another wonderful opportunity to share practical, research-based guidance to support young people and their families! 🎉 📖 Read the full article: https://lnkd.in/g5qhXH8D #CAYPPsychology #TinyHappyPeople #ChildDevelopment #PositiveParenting #MentalHealth #BBC #Behaviour #ChildPsychology

I agree with this study! Old age is definitely starting later - at least that is my perspective as I have aged. 😁😁 And the work of The John A. Hartford Foundation and Trust for America's Health have reinforced that older adults can live longer, fuller lives if the conditions are favorable and age-friendly. ICF is also working to support those age-friendly conditions from our work to combat elder financial abuse to our work on housing and transportation to our many effort to promote age-friendly health and human services. What’s the best way to talk to children about traumatic news events? We recently sat down with Professor of Clinical Psychology, Jennie Hudson, to discuss the common challenges parents face when navigating conversations about traumatic events with children. "Our goal is to help kids process the information about the event in a balanced way, and not be overly sensitive to danger in the future," says Professor Hudson.
