Everything we have in this country we owe to our Veterans. Cheesy, generic social media posts will never do it justice, because we can never thank them enough. I've been lucky enough to have many great Vets in my life. Both of my grandfathers, several of my friends (including two whom I consider brothers from another mother) as well as many clients. Today, and every day, I hope you feel loved, thanked, and appreciated for the sacrifices you made for our nation. #VeteransDay #veteransupport #financialadvisor #financialplanning #envoywealth

Reflecting on Remembrance Day Today is a day that carries a profound significance, particularly for those of us who have served. As an ex-service member, Remembrance Day isn’t simply a date on the calendar; it’s a solemn reminder of friends, shared hardships, and the true weight of service. It’s a day to honour those who made the ultimate sacrifice, who went where others could not, and to remember the families who bore their own sacrifices at home. Service instils values that never fade—courage, loyalty, resilience. These aren’t just words; they’re principles we carry with us long after we’ve hung up the uniform. For me, Remembrance Day is about embodying those values and paying tribute to the lessons we learned alongside our comrades. It’s about striving to be worthy of the sacrifices made by so many before us and those still serving today. As we pause to reflect, I encourage everyone to take a moment to recognise the commitment and service of others, whether in uniform or in their communities. Let’s remember, let’s learn, and let’s carry forward the ideals that unite us. #RemembranceDay #LestWeForget #HonouringService #UKVeterans

Two interesting points - we have lots of vets who qualify and need support and service dogs although the DVA does not pay for a service animal there are organizations that can help. PTSD dogs are in great demand and can be a lifesaver! If a disabled vet requires a service dog the DVA will pay for veterinary care. Our military working dogs are not as lucky many are reunited and retired with their handlers but the handlers many junior enlisted take on the financial burden for a MWD who if human would be a disabled vet. Tell your congressman that these handlers who step-up and care for a retired battle buddy (K-9) - who has no doubt saved lives and been in harms way - deserve the support of the VA in caring for our retired K-9 veterans. We have made progress but let’s help the vets who are stepping up to help fellow vets (including contract dogs - working dogs on the cheap for services that didn’t program to meet needs). I know how many USAF dog teams I sent to Iraq on 7 days notice because the Army and USMC failed to plan for the dog teams required. After 9/11 the USAF supplied 80% of the teams needed by the other services and for large civilian gatherings. The Air Force K-9s had the country’s back when we were unprepared!

The DCD program is all about the Win-Win-Win: - Each dog is a rescue/rehomed dog. - Each dog is trained by an inmate handler - Each dog is given to a veteran needing support for PTSD or related conditions, at no cost. DCD dogs are trained by low security inmates which enables consistent and dedicated training 24/7 for a minimum of 10 months. The dogs will mirror this dedication to their Veteran recipient. None of the inmates who have participated in the program have re-offended, and many have gained transferable skills to help them with reintegrating to society: “This program has changed my life; it’s taught me to be kind and patient, as well as the importance of being a role model for someone in your duty of care... there’s a real sense of trust and honour in being able to train and nurture a Labrador for a life-changing purpose." 🐾🐕💜 Visit our website for more information: www.dcdogs.com.au Improving the lives of Veterans. Comparison is a thief. Yesterday, I intended to post a video on the importance of going after your VA benefits. I didn’t post it. Instead, I deleted the near 5-minute video and it ate at me all day because I let my insecurities win. It happens to the best of us. I let everyone in on this because, it is important to remember we are all human. We all want to make a difference in one way or another. We all want to take a leap of faith at times. Yet, sometimes we don’t because of our insecurities and our unfortunate ability to compare ourselves to others. Same thing happens when we decide not to pursue our benefits because we feel as if we don’t deserve them. Whether we never served in combat or we didn’t receive a combat action ribbon or badge. Maybe we have all of our appendages and a friend does not. That comparison keeps us from obtaining the benefits and compensation we have earned. I was never directly shot at; however, many mortars (idf’s) were shot in my direction. I never saw combat like some of my grunt friends did. Because of my experience, I didn’t and still at times don’t feel worthy of the benefits I receive. That stated, I know I deserve them, and guess what? So does every #veteran who has raised their right hand and taken an oath to serve this nation. Whether you served in peacetime or war, 4 years or 40, there are benefits provided, in some capacity, for you. You earned them. We were taught to never quit and never retreat. So please, don’t quit on yourself. Fight for what is rightfully yours. #disabledveterans #veterans #transitioningservicemembers
