Why Internships Are Crucial for Aspiring Psychologists? As a psychologist, I often reflect on the role internships played in shaping my professional journey. Psychology is a deeply human field, one where theoretical knowledge alone cannot prepare you for the nuances of real-world practice. This is why internships are not just important—they’re essential. Here’s why I encourage every psychology student to embrace internships: • Translating Theory into Practice: Psychology is more than textbooks and lectures. Internships provide the platform to apply theoretical concepts in real-world settings, turning abstract ideas into practical interventions. • Exploring Specializations: Whether it’s clinical, counseling, organizational, or forensic psychology, internships help students identify their passions and areas of interest within this vast field. • Developing Professional Competence: Skills like active listening, rapport-building, and ethical decision-making can only be honed through hands-on experiences. Internships offer the safe space to learn and grow under supervision. • Building Confidence: The transition from student to professional can feel daunting. Internships help bridge this gap, allowing students to gain confidence in their abilities and knowledge. • Networking with the Field: Internships are an excellent way to connect with mentors, supervisors, and peers who can guide and support your career trajectory. I’ve seen how transformative internships can be for students, not only in skill-building but also in cultivating the empathy and resilience needed for this profession. As professionals, it’s our responsibility to encourage and guide students toward meaningful internship experiences, as they are the foundation of their future careers. To students: seek out opportunities, even if they seem challenging at first. Growth often happens outside your comfort zone. To my fellow psychologists: let’s continue to provide students with the support and guidance they need to thrive during this critical phase. How have internships shaped your journey, either as a student or as a professional mentoring others? I’d love to hear your thoughts. #psychologyinternships #theorytopractice

This is What I've learned during my internship at A semi Govt.Hospital. (AVBRH) Listing out few points here that I personally feel are relevant. 📌Humility: First and foremost, it's the most important asset in all the workplaces I've been to. You might possess an incredible intellect, and loads of knowledge, still always be ready to learn. 📌Spend initial 3-4 days totally for observation: One of my college professors taught us this; that when you're new to a workplace, observe the culture of the place in 1st week and then act upon your plans and aspirations. 📌Make a weekly list of what you want to derive from the internship, and if it's a paid one, keenly observe what the authorities expect from you other than what they've explicitly mentioned. And act upon it respectively, while keeping in mind to balance between what you're giving and what you're taking from the organisation. 📌Administer as maximum as Clinical tests you can: Actively engage in administering tests such as Rorschach, MMPI, MCMI, Bender Gestalt,TAT, and other's. 📌Do whatever you can NOW, instead of waiting to be perfect: Use whatever knowledge, skills, and assets, you've acquired in a mindful way. Waiting to get perfect at something and then doing it is just nonsensical (while writing this post I still feel it could've been better ;) but waiting for it to be PERFECT is getting me nowhere 🥲) 📌Never Practice Catharsis on patients who've just experienced an episode of any specific illness: in such cases if you do Catharsis it just reminds them of everything all over again. which might be detrimental when they've experienced it recently. ( this is what the clinical psychologist suggested ) beyond excited to hear YOUR suggestions and experiences from internships ✨ #psychology #internships #mentalhealth

The best part of my Internship has been finding out what career choices seem to fit me the best. Going into the internship there were certain things I felt like I would want to do when I got older, but after the internship I decided maybe it wasn’t my first choice anymore. For example, physical therapy was at the top of my list but after my internship found the ER and labor and delivery much more appealing. My favorite day of careers was definitely the ER. I have always been Intrested in emergency medicine and this presentation made me even more interested! #nebointerns #utahcteinternships #internships #shhsinterns

Why is getting a psychology internship harder than therapy itself? Private hospitals charge anywhere from ₹10,000 to ₹15,000 for an internship and securing internships at government hospitals requires strong connections, which is equally frustrating. I’m reaching out to my network for advice and leads. If you know of any affordable or free psychology offline internship opportunities—preferably ones that focus on genuine learning—I’d greatly appreciate your guidance. Any suggestions or recommendations are welcome! #internship #psychology #hospitals

SOS! SOS! SOS! Prestige vs. practical experience-what’s your take? If you had the chance to choose a Psychology internship, what would you prefer👇🏻 1. A highly reputed, big-name hospital known for its prestige but with limited hands-on opportunities for trainees. 2. A smaller, practice-oriented hospital that provides ample opportunities to learn and engage in real-world scenarios. The former could enhance one's resume significantly, while the latter might give the practical skills one needs to thrive in the field. What would you prioritize? I’d love to hear your thoughts👇🏻 #psychology #internship

Can I change my career path? Finding your career path may take time, and there will likely be a few turns along the way. In college, we sometimes rush to pick a major and forget that it’s totally okay to explore and change directions as we go. College is the perfect time to discover your skills and figure out how they align with a career. Internships are a great way to get an inside look at an industry and see if it’s the right fit for you. With real-world experience, you can test out how your skills match the job and whether it brings you joy. I did this exact thing in college. I started in a year-long medical assistant program and completed a 3-month internship. I loved helping people, but realized the medical field wasn’t for me, and there was a lot more schooling required if I wanted to move up. I ended up switching my major. It added some extra time to my college journey, but I gained a lot from that experience. Your career path will have many twists and turns, and you won’t always be able to plan for each one. You can have multiple careers throughout your life, and each one will teach you something new about yourself. So, don’t be afraid to experiment, test things out, and pivot when needed. #CareerAdvice #College #CareerJourney #Internships #CareerPath #CareerPivot #CollegeJourney #CareerChange #Intern

Recently We at FACS posted an #internship on #LinkedIn. 54 application but guess what none of them was a quality lead. This made me realise how people are applying indiscriminately/randomly and then complaining about not being shortlisted or getting a #job. I believe these two things one should definitely keep in mind before applying. Else it's like a wasted effort for both #employer and #applicant 👉 Read the job description: Don’t apply to every job posted. We saw experienced professionals applying for internship clearly meant for undergraduate students. 👉 Check the company profile: Take time to understand the company and job location. We posted an on-field job, yet candidates in interview said, “Oh, we thought it was hybrid.” Adding on to an advice for LinkedIn Please add a feature for employers to rate applicants, visible only to other employers. This would discourage blind applications #HRteam, what’s your take? Faced similar issue before? Follow #swastisays
