Youth Unemployment Rate – The Link to Non-Permanent Residents Desjardins has a useful perspective on youth unemployment. Their analysis indicates that non-permanent residents (NPRs) have been a primary driver of the rise in youth unemployment. Over half of the NPRs admitted to Canada in the last years were under the age of 25 years. Desjardins suggests that if the government is successful in reducing the number of NPRs then the upward pressure on youth unemployment should diminish. #youthunemployment, #non-permanentresidents

YES CEO Tim Lang speaks to Global News regarding impact of high youth unemployment. Global news article “Youth unemployment is highest since 2012. What will it take to fix it?” interviewed Timothy Lang, YES President & CEO to discuss the issues around youth unemployment and possible solutions, including more support for organizations like YES, which help drive a stronger economy through employment and changing lives. “For every $1 dollar of funding to YES, it returns $3 to the economy in terms of new tax revenues, reduced social services, and much more” and Lang and YES have close to 60 years of servicing youth to demonstrate this impact. -See article and video: https://lnkd.in/eMeGNSGr

"Tackling youth unemployment could generate £69bn for UK economy" - Impetus - Backing the best, 2023 🤯 Doesn't that title make you scratch your head and think, what?! Why hasn't this been solved yet! Unfortunately, a lot of young people who have either had to be educated through a global pandemic at the most pivotal years of their lives or even lost a job during this period, are still impacted by the effects. Research by Learning and Work Institute stated that spending time unemployed under the age of 23 has been linked to lower wages even TWENTY years on. You read that right...TWENTY years later! Can you imagine having your confidence knocked and bruised for multiple years, all the while still trying to figure out this thing called adulting? (In all honestly, it still feels like many of us are going through it now - so maybe we can relate!) I've shared before that our social enterprise has set out on a mission to break social isolation barriers for young people, leading to gainful employment and the self-resilience to achieve personal goals. I'm a firm believer that this requires a holistic approach to intervene early, collaborating across sectors, large and small to bring about lasting change for our youth. If you had the opportunity to gift the economy with £69bn, what would you do to tackle youth unemployment❓
