And just like that, it was done... #ADIPEC2024 went by in a flash, but worth every step... Day 4 was dominated by the ADNOC Drilling Seminar which focused on AI to support offshore operations. To demonstrate this focus on AI the session was co-hosted by an AI Hologram assistant called Mira... Some interesting observations were discussed during the session, including #AI is a decision support tool, not a replacement of individuals. Summed up nicely by this quote: "AI will not replace you, but a person using AI will." Capturing both the opportunity and potential of AI in one sentence. The focus on data is key, by using the best sources of data ensures that you get the most accurate results. The key is capturing and cleansing the large volumes of data produced. As one commentator put it: "Oil wells produce more data than oil..." Rystad Energy gave a general update which has a prediction that "Peak Oil" Production has shifted out from the end of 2030 to the mid 2030's. Driving optimise for the industry and the supply chain. This optimism was evident in every hall. It was a busy and productive week in Abu Dhabi meeting clients, attending technical session and walking the floors with the local Global Maritime team... U.S. nuclear power plants restart power supply, Microsoft AI uranium ETF stock price rebounds collectively Microsoft plans to power its AI data centers with nuclear energy by reinitiating the Three Mile Island Nuclear Power Plant in 2028. This initiative is supported by a 20-year power purchase agreement with Constellation Energy, which will provide over 800MW to satisfy AI computing demands. The Three Mile Island plant has been closed since 2019 due to high renewable energy costs and is still in the decommissioning process following a 1979 meltdown. Renewed interest in nuclear energy is seen as a reliable carbon reduction strategy amidst the inconsistent nature of solar and wind power. The growing focus on nuclear energy has positively impacted the stock market, with uranium-related ETFs experiencing price increases.
