Title: NJ UAS Community Working Group
As a New Jersey resident and experienced drone pilot, it’s disheartening to see the unprepared and poorly deployed response to recent drone incursions. Living in northern NJ, where many sightings have occurred, I’m frequently approached by locals with questions and concerns. This highlights a critical need for action. My chief concern is the lack of proactive communication and the underutilization of available resources. While I understand that authorities may limit the details they disclose, the absence of transparency and a comprehensive public information campaign is eroding trust and leaving communities unprepared. Without preparation, there can be no effective response.
One key element often overlooked when conducting critical infrastructure assessment is the need for a strong public information campaign. Educating the community is vital—not only to dispel misinformation but also to identify and utilize local assets that can help state and government agencies.
Our state is home to a wealth of UAS expertise spanning various fields, and it’s time we harness that knowledge to verify “what we currently know”. Our collaborated efforts can construct valuable lessons learned with a path forward to assist the current efforts in NJ.
To tackle these challenges, I will be hosting an NJ UAS Community Working Group on Wednesday, December 18th, at 11:00 AM. The goal of this working group is to foster collaboration, address pressing concerns, and create a clear roadmap for an informed and prepared NJ UAS community. By coming together, we can bridge the gaps in communication and readiness, ensuring a stronger, more united response to future challenges.
If you are interested in participating, please DM me direct NLT 2030 on December 17th. I will provide the log-in information on the morning of the 18th.
