WHAT: “Thriving After Military Service” Transitioning ALL RANKS Veteran Event WHO: Hosted by the MOAA-Tampa Chapter WHERE: FIVE Labs Conference Center, 4115 W Spruce St., Tampa WHEN: Tuesday, 6 August, from 9:00 am - 4:00 pm (Lunch and all-day snacks & beverage services provided) WHY: While there are multitudes of seminars for transitioning military members, there are none quite like this. The typical event focuses on resume development, interview skills, dressing for success, building your elevator speech, etc., while MOAA’s “Thriving After Military Service” goes a completely different direction...we are focused on helping military members and their families lead fulfilling lives now that they have the opportunity to put down real and lasting roots in the Tampa Bay community. Nobody else is doing this. Here’s what people are saying about this event: - “Extremely valuable! I’m in the middle of my transition now and this was the only venue I’ve seen that covers these topics.” - “Excellent! Focused on a very different part of my transition—how to stay connected to the military community.” - “I very much like the emphasis on continued service in retirement.” - “Love the energy and purpose.” - “Amazing program that I will be a big advocate for and will spread the word.” - “Will definitely recommend other service members attend this event in the future.” REGISTER: https://lnkd.in/eSRWnimV

I attended the Hiring Our Heroes Employment Summit at The Broadmoor before this year’s SVA National Convention. One highlight was when Eric Eversole, President of Hiring Our Heroes, presented a slide with a quote from Apollo 11 astronaut Buzz Aldrin: “Keep in mind that progress is not always linear. It takes constant course correcting and often a lot of zigzagging. Unfortunate things happen, accidents occur, and setbacks are usually painful, but that does not mean we quit.” — Buzz Aldrin For veterans transitioning into civilian careers, this quote resonates deeply. Our path isn’t always straightforward, and that’s okay. As veterans, we’re accustomed to overcoming obstacles, and sometimes our career journeys require a bit of zigzagging, adapting to new terrain, and adjusting our course. But just like Aldrin's exploration on the Moon, each step, each adjustment, brings us closer to success. If you're a veteran navigating the "zigzags," embrace the journey. Tremendous gratitude to Hiring Our Heroes for an empowering event and for championing this critical mission.

I’m deeply honored to share the first blog post from our Executive VP, Christine MacInnes, highlighting WarCollar’s unwavering commitment to hiring military spouses. As an HR professional, this initiative holds a special place in my heart because it’s not just about filling positions—it’s about honoring people who give so much of themselves. As someone who works closely with so many incredible individuals, I’ve had the privilege of witnessing the strength, resilience, and dedication that military spouses bring to their work. Balancing the uncertainties of military life while supporting their families and building their own careers requires a strength that inspires me every day. Their ability to adapt, overcome, and lead by example is truly remarkable. At WarCollar, we strive to create a supportive environment where military spouses are not only welcomed but valued for their unique talents and perspectives. We understand the challenges they face, and we want to provide opportunities that allow them to thrive, grow, and feel supported in every step of their journey. For us, hiring military spouses isn’t just a business decision—it’s a reflection of our values. We believe in giving back to the community that supports our service members, and we know that by investing in military spouses, we’re investing in a workforce that is strong, resourceful, and driven to succeed. I’m incredibly proud to work for a company that understands the importance of creating opportunities for military spouses, not only because it strengthens our team but because it’s the right thing to do. Together, we are building a workplace rooted in community, compassion, and the spirit of service. #WarCollarIndustries #MilitarySpouses #CommunityStrength #ServiceAndSacrifice #HiringHeroes #SupportOurTroops #Resilience #WorkforceDevelopment
