Embrace multilingual models with IBM granite models. The possibilities are endless but one that I want to highlight is close to my heart growing up in an immigrant household and immigrant neighbourhood. “What does this say/mean” was something always asked by friends or certain family members. Now we can remove that labour and you can help your clients from having to use family and children as #translators with the power of #LLMs straight from the source. Our granite model recently came out at #4 for its first time being assessed in the Stanford University report for #AI model assessments. It is now one of the most #transparent in the world [read here: https://lnkd.in/gPuvGPN5]. This was done on an earlier version of our model that has continuously been improved upon. I’m excited for the next report and this ever evolving industry.

I have been thinking about this recent demo of "realtime [interpreting]" by OpenAI. It was fairly impressive at the conversational level, but I would like to see a similar demonstration of the bot's interpreting competence in some higher-stakes settings to assess its effectiveness and potential for ethical human interpreter replacement by a synthetic multilingual agent: 1. A doctor-patient interaction 2. A dialogue between diplomats 3. A business deal negotiation 4. A professional conference 5. A witness deposition in court 6. An emergency call to 911 dispatch 7. An Asylum Merits Interview 8. [Fill in the blanks here] etc.
