🎄 A Christmas Message from SUGE 🎄 As the year winds down and the festive spirit kicks into full gear, we at SUGE want to take a moment to say a massive thank you to all our customers, partners, and the hardworking team that keeps us moving—literally and figuratively! From tackling mountains of food waste to ensuring every drop of waste water is responsibly handled, it’s been a year of dedication, innovation, and making a real impact together. This Christmas, as we gather with family and friends (and maybe indulge in a mince pie or two 🍪), let’s also reflect on the progress we’ve made toward a more sustainable future. Every bit of organic waste we’ve recycled and kept out of landfill is a step toward a greener tomorrow. To our valued customers: thank you for trusting us with your waste. To our team: thank you for going the extra mile (and the extra shifts 🚛) to keep the wheels turning, 24/7. Here’s to a season of joy, rest, and a fantastic start to the new year! Merry Christmas from all of us at SUGE 🎅🌟" P.S. Don’t worry—our tankers are still on the roads this holiday season, ready to keep your operations running smoothly. What's scarier than me holding a pumpkin? The Hejre oil field 💀 🖤 Denmark is *still* expanding fossil fuel production in the North Sea. This spring, the Danish Energy Agency gave the green light to a new giant oil field in the North Sea - the #Hejre field - which is planned to be in production at least until 2045. During Hejre's life-time, the Danish Energy Agency expects up to 67 million barrels of oil and 3.5 billion cubic meters of gas to be extracted. If burned, it will emit over 35 million tons of CO2 - more than what the Danish government expects to remove through as-yet imaginary carbon capture promises. The project is also a threat to the Danish portion of the Wadden Sea, which risks losing its UNESCO World Heritage status. With news of the Amazon burning, Danish roads flooding and crops in southern Europe collapsing due to deadly heat-waves, the Danish government's answer to climate breakdown is: MORE OIL. Instead of living up to its historical and political responsibility to phase out fossil fuels as soon as possible, we are being told we need to increase our carbon emissions, against all logic or reason. INEOS, the company behind the Hejre field, is one of the world's largest plastic producers and will use the oil to drown us in ever more plastic that we don't need. "Climate" Minister Lars Aagaard claims this secures our plastic supply, which is of course non-sense, and just another way for him and his fossil corporate buddies (like CEO of INEOS Energy David Bucknall) to shove even more oil and plastic than our throats. Join this online action initiated by Fossilfri Fremtid ✊ 🌱 to spread the word about Hejre and the death and destruction that INEOS has in store for us. 1) get a pumpkin, 2) write or scratch ‘Stop Hejre’ on it, 3) take a picture of yourself and post it with inspiration from the above 4) nominate 3-5 others you think should do the same, 5) eat delicious pumpkin soup for dinner (thanks Laura Horn for the idea!) I nominate: Maria Toft Linda Luciani Tim Wodskou Martin Karlsson Pedersen Rebecca Rutt #StopHejre

Innovative Uses for Shell Waste: Supporting Honey Bee Health As someone deeply involved in sourcing crustacean shells for chitin and chitosan production, I’m always fascinated by the diverse applications of these incredible materials. A recent study highlighted another important use: improving honey bee health. The research demonstrated that chitosan—a natural derivative of chitin—can significantly reduce Nosema apis, a parasite that threatens honey bee colonies. By strengthening the bees’ immune systems, maintaining gut health, and reducing parasite loads, chitosan is proving to be a promising solution for supporting these essential pollinators, especially during stressful periods like winter. At Tidal Vision, we’re committed to upcycling shell waste into valuable products like chitosan, which can make a tangible difference in industries ranging from agriculture to environmental remediation—and now even beekeeping. This discovery reaffirms why sustainable sourcing and innovative processing of shell byproducts are so critical. Every pound of shell waste we divert from landfills and waterways contributes to creating materials with real-world benefits, like protecting our pollinators. Let’s keep exploring and advancing these sustainable solutions together. If you’re interested in learning more about chitin, chitosan, or ways we can collaborate, feel free to connect or reach out. Together, we can turn waste into something extraordinary. #Sustainability #Chitosan #HoneyBeeHealth #Innovation #Upcycling #CircularEconomy #Chitin https://lnkd.in/gVSmfcNh

Happy Earth Day! 🌎 Today, as we celebrate our planet and reflect on the actions we can take to preserve its beauty and resources, we're proud to highlight the sustainable practices behind our fresh spirulina production: 🌿 Saving Land: Our spirulina is grown sustainably. Mindfully cultivated, harvested, and shipped. We ensure that our consumers receive the best and healthiest product without harming valuable land. 💧 Conserving Water: To produce a kilogram of spirulina, we use less than 500 liters of water, compared to 3400 liters for rice and a staggering 15,400 liters for beef! The water we use is recycled, with no pesticide or herbicide runoff in the process. ♻️ Zero Waste: We utilize the entirety of harvested spirulina. By embracing a zero-waste philosophy, we strive to leave the smallest environmental footprint possible, contributing to a healthier planet for generations to come. This Earth Day, let's continue to support sustainable practices that nourish both our bodies and our planet! #EarthDay #Spirulina #Algae #PlantProtein

⭐ Well-being at work At ANDRITZ Feed & Biofuel, we want to create and maintain a healthy, supportive, and inclusive work environment where everyone thrives. With this in mind, we are excited to share that we have embarked on a very important project shaping the future of our workplace at ANDRITZ in Denmark: the Well-being Framework. The project was kicked-off with two interactive workshops in Danish and English with all employees and managers on the topics: ✨ Psychological safety: How do we create a work environment in which people are able to speak up openly, and in which we trust that we have each other's backs? ✨ Feedback – feedforward: How do we communicate with each other when giving constructive feedback, and at the same time, how do we learn from the mistakes we inevitably make? ✨ Stress awareness and prevention: How can we create a work environment that fosters well-being and minimizes the risk of stress developing amongst employees? The project to develop our well-being framework runs between October 2024 and March 2025. It is funded through Velliv Foreningen and executed in collaboration with ARBEJDSMILJØEksperten A/S. #vellivfonden #Wellbeing #PsychologicalSafety #WorkplaceCulture

🎄🤔 People are very confused about Christmas trees! That's because of disinformation spread by the association for sellers of fake Christmas trees 😱 American Christmas Tree Association (ACTA) They paid a consultancy to do a "report" (I've read it) that was fundamentally flawed. It suggested a real tree has a higher carbon footprint - but it assumed the real tree was cut and never replaced. That's not reality 😠 If you're up for a long read, the flawed report is here: https://lnkd.in/eGt9g8_V If a Christmas tree farm didn't replant every tree they cut, what would they have to sell for future Christmases? 🤯 I.e., of course the real tree is replaced!! The, maybe, 5 trees of different ages they have growing per tree cut absorb as much CO2 as the cut tree's decomposition releases. It's Nature's climate-neutral miracle: the Carbon Cycle🌲 And think about it: a hunk of metal and virgin petro-plastic made in China and shipped 22,000km to us ☠️...how could that be more sustainable than a real tree that absorbs CO2 and releases oxygen as it grows?!? 🌱 It does help to recycle your real tree with your local council after Christmas ♻️ Bonus points if you can get or rent a real tree in a pot to use year after year like Cork Christmas Trees https://lnkd.in/eRG4cWD4 or Your Little Tree https://yourlittletree.ie/ Very important: Sustainability is most people doing most things most of the time. Not everyone all the time. So if you need a fake tree for asthma etc, try and get it preloved, otherwise give yourself a pass and enjoy your tree 🎅 #SustainableChristmas #christmastrees

Algae oil flies into the sky! China Airlines Evergreen 2025 demand has been solved, Formosa Plastics will mass produce new smart devices Green algae is gaining attention in the aviation industry for its potential as a sustainable fuel source, particularly as airlines face new regulations mandating the use of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) starting in 2025. Formosa Plastics plans to invest in algae oil production, aiming for a capacity of 20,000 tons annually by 2030, which would satisfy about 10% of Taiwan's SAF needs. As SAF demand rises, traditional sources like waste cooking oil are becoming insufficient, despite being more cost-effective. Algae oil emerges as a promising alternative due to its frequent harvest cycles and high oil yields suitable for aviation fuel. To assess its viability, Formosa Plastics intends to initiate a trial production setup with blue-green algae by early 2025. Microalgae not only absorb carbon dioxide and produce oxygen but also have applications in health food ingredients. By developing a sustainable local SAF supply chain, Formosa Plastics aims to position itself as a leader in algae oil production, capitalizing on an anticipated global SAF demand of 5 million tons per year, creating substantial opportunities in renewable energy. #MotiveAsia #Taiwan https://lnkd.in/g-w3XAM8

#Let’s Make #Chai – #Energy for Brewing! 🔥☕ Alright, chai lovers! We all know that gathering the best #eco-friendly, #organic, and #nutritious ingredients doesn't guarantee us that delicious cup of chai until we brew it to perfection. And how do we brew that? By FIRE! 🔥 Most of us rely on good ol' #LPG, #inductionStoves, or #electric kettles for that job. But hey, have you ever thought about eco-friendly alternatives? Let me guess—you’re thinking, "#Solar heaters?! C’mon, that takes ages!" And yeah, how are we supposed to brew a midnight chai under the moonlight when there’s no sun? Fair point! 😅 So let me introduce you to another eco-friendly powerhouse—#BIOGAS! 🧑🔬 You might be like, "Biogas? Isn’t that from waste?" Well, YES! And here’s the kicker—we generate tons of it! Between our kitchen scraps, bathroom business, and garden clippings, we’re practically a waste factory. 🏭 But instead of letting it all go to, well, waste, why not turn it into fuel? Think about it: we pay big bucks to get our sewers cleaned, and don’t even get me started on what happens when that waste mixes with drinking water. Yikes! 💩 But, if we had biogas plants under our buildings, we could just toss our organic waste in there! It's a win-win: biogas for cooking and manure for farms—oh, and the tea waste? That can go in too, to fuel your next cup! Talk about a HOT topic! 🔥 Plus, who doesn’t love a good #selfsustaining solution to chat about over a cup of tea? ☕ The best part? Your waste is working for you and helping the planet, too. 🌍 So next time you sip that hot cup of chai, think about what fueled it. Maybe your trash is the true hero here! 🦸♀️ #EcoFriendlyChai ☕#WasteToEnergy ♻️#BiogasPower #SustainableLiving 🌱#GreenEnergy 💚#TeaTalks ☕️#SelfSustainability 🌍#OrganicFuel #ZeroWasteLiving 🚯#CompostToCup 🌿#ClimateActionNow 🌎#ChaiWithAConscience 🍵 https://lnkd.in/gTpcJeYY
