 🗣️👂 What are people in Ukraine saying about their experiences receiving cash and voucher assistance?    The war on Ukraine in February 2022 has caused a severe humanitarian crisis. In response, the humanitarian community has supported the Ukrainian government to initiate the largest cash assistance programme in history💸.    Ground Truth Solutions in collaboration with the CCD Network conducted 40 in-depth interviews with people who applied for or received cash assistance in Ukraine to get a better insight into their experiences and perceptions.    Here are some quotes from the report 💬⤵️    Source: “No-one has ever helped me like this.” User journeys of cash recipients in Ukraine  -Case study by Ground Truth Solutions

Proud to join Jorge Moreira da Silva, our Executive Director, on another field mission in Asia, directly experiencing the scope and impact of UNOPS's most challenging projects. In Afghanistan, our resilient and innovative teams push the envelope under tough conditions, delivering critical humanitarian programs that significantly benefit millions of Afghans and constantly innovating to set benchmarks in best practices. For instance, we observed the work of the Awaaz Call Center, a pioneering UNOPS-managed toll-free humanitarian hotline in Afghanistan, seeing operators as they received and managed calls from people. They provided extensive support - in different languages spoken in Afghanistan! - while gathering information to help humanitarian partners effectively address the concerns of the people - this is accountability in action. This thorough and effective operation is why 138 partners have trusted UNOPS's expertise and joined the Data Sharing MoU, ensuring that their programs are also covered by Awaaz, enhancing its reach and impact across Afghanistan. The success of Awaaz has piqued the interest of other UNOPS country operations, sparking discussions on adopting this robust accountability mechanism as a system-wide model. I am grateful to our team in Afghanistan for initiating a series of key partner meetings for the Executive Director, showcasing our long-term strategies for enhancing resilience and expanding livelihood opportunities. These discussions were crucial not only to detail our methods for meeting basic human needs but also to highlight our team's proactive and innovative efforts. Reflecting on these engagements, it becomes clear that effective solutions in Afghanistan require cohesive planning and shared efforts among all partners. This collective approach ensures that our initiatives are comprehensive and impactful, addressing the complex challenges faced by the Afghan community through unified, strategic collaboration. Ahead of #WorldHumanitarianDay, Plan International Ukraine joins over 60 other humanitarian organizations working in Ukraine to pay tribute to the humanitarian workers and volunteers who have lost their lives while providing life-saving emergency assistance to civilians. It is also an opportunity to restate our joint commitment to helping those in need. The UN estimates that nearly 15 million people, almost 40% of the population, are in in need of humanitarian assistance, including nearly 3 million children, 3.4 million older people, and 3.6 million internally displaced people. Plan International East and Central Europe Response Director Sven Coppens said: "Plan International Ukraine is committed to continuing working with its local partners to address and reverse the dire consequences of the war by promoting an age and gender approach to the humanitarian response and to identify both-long term and localised solutions. 🕊️✨Two years of continuous shelling of civilian infrastructure objects and residential areas, private residences, and critical facilities have exacerbated the humanitarian crisis in Ukraine. This has led to an increase in casualties and injuries. As the population's needs grow, there is a decrease in the level of international support. Unfortunately, the reduction in aid will have the greatest impact on the most vulnerable population groups. 🚨 🤝In response to these challenges, HIAS Ukraine continues to actively support those affected, focusing on the needs of women, girls, and other marginalized groups in frontline communities in eastern and southern regions of Ukraine. 🌍HIAS Ukraine prioritizes the localization of its activities by supporting local partner organizations that have deep connections with communities and a nuanced understanding of the local context. 🇳🇿🤝🇺🇦 We are extremely grateful to New Zealand for a new package of support for #Ukraine. This support, worth $25.9 million, will bring the total value of New Zealand’s assistance pledged in the past two years to more than $100 million. In addition to the extension of the NZDF deployment, today’s package also includes: 🔹 $6.5 million to the United Kingdom-administered International Fund for Ukraine to procure weapons and ammunition for Ukraine 🔹 $7 million in humanitarian assistance to support Ukrainians affected by the war, including those who have been displaced to neighbouring countries. Today, our thoughts are with the resilient people of #Ukraine, who have endured unimaginable hardships after the full-scale invasion two years ago. With 40% of the population needing humanitarian support, they must not be forgotten. Every day, Airlink works to move aid supplies and humanitarian personnel for our partners whose programs continue on the ground. We've helped 66 nonprofits and NGOs respond in Ukraine and neighboring countries, reaching over 5 million people with aid and assistance. Having recently surveyed these partners, healthcare remains the top programmatic focus, with funding scarcity and supply chain costs presenting significant challenges. This underscores our role of providing free airlift and logistical solutions for timely aid movement without barriers to response. The Ukrainian diaspora has played a critical but often overlooked role in supporting Ukraine in the more than 2.5 years since Russia launched its full-scale invasion. Key networks were built a decade ago, following the annexation of Crimea, and sprung into action when the full-scale invasion began in 2022.
