I’m happy to share that my article (coauthored with Preeya Mohan) is now published by the Strategic Entrepreneurship Journal (AJG4*, FT50). In the paper we show that although climate finance has been mostly good for most countries, it is having an unwanted consequence in energy exporting countries, it’s depressing entrepreneurship. https://lnkd.in/eaQTi6ym

Today is #WorldBeeDay. We are giving a shout-out to our tiny friends 🐝 So, what can bees teach African Entrepreneurs? 🚀 🌍 🌍 🤝 Community and Collaboration: Bees thrive on teamwork, and African entrepreneurs can achieve remarkable success by building strong networks and collaborative partnerships. 🤸♀️ Stay Flexible: Bees adapt to their surroundings. In the fast-changing African market, we need to be just as flexible and ready to pivot when needed. 💚 Go Green: By following bees' example of keeping the environment healthy through eco-friendly practices, we can benefit both the planet and our businesses. 💪🎉 Work Hard, Play Hard: Bees are hardworking and never give up. African entrepreneurs should bring the same energy and persistence to change people's lives. And hey, don’t forget to celebrate the wins, big or small! 💎 Create Value: Just like bees add value by pollinating plants, we can make a positive impact in our communities by providing products and services that address the challenges facing the continent. #WorldBeeDay #AfricanEntrepreneurs #JoinTheHive #JoinPamoja

*Financing Indigenous entrepreneurs: A review and research agenda* Empowering Indigenous communities through entrepreneurship holds great promise, but access to finance remains a persistent challenge. Indigenous entrepreneurs face the "Liability of Difference"—financial systems often reflect the dominant, non-Indigenous culture’s ideology, creating barriers that make it harder for Indigenous entrepreneurs to secure resources. These unique challenges—rooted in cultural, social, and economic differences—require greater understanding. Research shows that Indigenous entrepreneurs must navigate a more complex financial landscape, and overcoming these obstacles is key to unlocking their full potential. We need dedicated research to explore Indigenous financing as a distinct field, and governments must take a central role in creating more culturally appropriate funding solutions. It’s time to address the Liability of Difference and support Indigenous business growth for long-term community empowerment. 🌱 Great work by Elaine De Gruyter James Gordon Babita Bhatt and Nkosana Mafico #IndigenousEntrepreneurship #InclusiveFinance #LiabilityOfDifference #EconomicEquity #PolicyInnovation #ImpactInvesting #SocialImpactBonds Your can download open access paper here https://lnkd.in/gz6MnGc7
