The three-day New Space Summit https://lnkd.in/ebg2QDXv took place on October 23-25, 2024, organised by Munich Aerospace on the topic FROM LAB TO ORBIT TO EARTH: TECHNOLOGY TRANSFER WITHIN NEW SPACE, with a presentation of the state of the European space program, shortcomings and advantages. More about the Summit in the program on the Homepage - Munich New Space Summit. The exceptional honor went to A3, represented by President Slobodan Danko Bosanac, to participate in the opening panel, in a discussion on Europe's Space Ambitions: A Dialogue on Our Competitive Edge. The discussion covered the fundamental advantages and disadvantages of the EU space program, with a fairly objective analysis, which I will report on in detail soon. A3 defended the thesis that Europe lacks the vision of leadership as the world carrier of an important project in the space program, which requires vision and imagination. The bearer of the vision should be the European community, while the ESA should be the executor. In the final two words, which were asked by the panellists, A3 gave a guideline for where to start the program: Think big. A3 was presented in the discussion based on the contributions of several of our members, and we must be proud to present ourselves as a very competent interlocutor on the subject of the space program and the vision of where to go. From left to right: Jean-Marc Astorg (Strategy Director, CNES), Miriam Grigg (Deputy Director, International, Resilience and Regulation of the Space Directorate, DSIT UK), Moderator: Hermann Ludwig Moeller (Director, European Space Policy Institute, ESPI), René Puls (Board Member, ESA-ECSECO | Managing Director, PRORES Aerospace) i Slobodan Danko Bosanac (President Adriatic Aerospace Association).

Rapid access to orbit for future European innovations 🚀 The best way to test new space technologies is to fly them in space. At the 17th European Space Conference, Dietmar Pilz, ESA’s Director of Technology, Engineering and Quality, signed a series of contracts with European small satellite companies that will provide flight opportunities for the testing of new space technologies as part of European Commission’s In-Orbit Demonstration and Validation (IOD/IOV) programme. “To enhance the agility of the programme, ESA and the European Commission have decided to integrate rideshare opportunities, which offer experiments a secure and rapid path to orbit on commercial missions. This is a win-win: the experiment benefits from a quick service, while the mission owner can optimise their available capacity by accommodating additional payloads,” said Dietmar Pilz. Ekaterini Kavvada, Director of Secure and Connected Space at the European Commission, adds: “With the creation of this pool of European rideshare providers, we continue the paradigm shift in our procurement approach acting as anchor customers for industry, adopting a faster service-oriented approach and onboarding new players from six different EU countries.” Learn more about the deal here 👉 https://lnkd.in/eRegsa5Y

A great leap into Space for Europe with today’s signature of #IRIS2 with all the friends from the Space community together in Bruxelles. We are embarking on an amazingly ambitious program where public private partnerships will be taken to a new level as we ensure European souveraignity in space. Thanks for the trust from from the European Parliament and Commission, to European Space Agency - ESA for its continued support, and thanks for the collaboration with our SpaceRISE consortium partners SES Satellites and Hispasat and to the fantastic Eutelsat Group team who has worked on this for the past couple of years. With Courage and Persistency - off to the next frontier
Today, we celebrate the signing of the IRIS² agreement at the European Commission. This public-private partnership between the EU, European Space Agency - ESA and the SpaceRISE consortium, marks the launch of an ambitious project that will reshape the future of European space through a sovereign, autonomous, multi-layer, and multi-mission constellation 🛰️ IRIS² also represents a key step in Eutelsat Group’s strategy to develop and expand our low Earth orbit (LEO) capacity, and the extension of our existing OneWeb constellation will be technologically compatible with the future IRIS2 assets. As a key member of the SpaceRISE consortium, we will bring our unique LEO expertise to address the technological and commercial challenges of the next decade. We are excited to collaborate with the European Union, European Space Agency, and our consortium partners. Together, we are building the future of European space. Commenting on this landmark for the European space industry, Eva Berneke, Chief Executive Officer of Eutelsat Group, said: "IRIS² is more than a historic contract; it is the foundation of a sovereign, multi-layer constellation that strengthens Europe’s space industry and reinforces its strategic autonomy. “At Eutelsat, we are proud to bring our unique LEO expertise to this ground-breaking project to help deliver a transformative communications backbone that bridges the digital divide, supports critical connectivity needs, and ensures Europe’s remains among the global leaders in space.” You can find out more about the IRIS² project on our website via the link in the comments, below ⤵️

The recent Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Federal Republic of Nigeria and the United States firm, Space Exploration and Research Agency (SERA), to send the first Nigerian astronaut into space has once again highlighted the significance of space exploration. Conquering the challenges of operating in space has spurred numerous technological and scientific breakthroughs, yielding substantial benefits for society on Earth across various sectors, including health and medicine, transportation, public safety, consumer goods, energy and environment, information technology, and industrial productivity. As the global space race intensifies with an increasing number of nations and private entities striving to establish their presence in outer space, Nigeria has developed a comprehensive regulatory framework – The 2015 Regulations on Licensing and Supervision of Space Activities. The regulation was enacted in 2015 and activated by the Buhari administration in 2021. This framework aims to ensure that Nigeria’s emerging space activities are conducted safely, responsibly, and in accordance with international standards. The article below unpacks key provisions of the 2015 NASRDA Regulations on Licensing and Supervision of Space Activities. https://lnkd.in/dy7etBci

Pakistan is gearing up to launch its CubeSat satellite, ICUBE-Qamar (ICUBE-Q), in collaboration with China's Chang'e 6 lunar mission, set for the first week of May. ICUBE-Qamar is a joint endeavor involving Pakistan's Institute of Space Technology (IST), the Pakistan Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SUPARCO), the Asia Pacific Space Cooperation Organization (APSCO), and China's Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU). This partnership underscores Pakistan's expanding role in space research and technology. Chang'e 6's primary objective is to gather samples from the far side of the Moon, and ICUBE-Qamar will join other international payloads from countries like France, the European Space Agency, and Italy as part of this mission. This collaboration signifies Pakistan's increasing engagement in space exploration beyond CubeSats. The country is actively involved in innovative projects, including research on environmentally tolerant seeds. Furthermore, discussions are underway for potential participation in China's Tiangong space station and lunar base at the South Pole. #PakistanSpace #ChangE6 #ICUBEQamar #SpaceExploration
