Did not have to wait long. The day after the North Sea countries - Denmark, Belgium, the UK, Germany, Norway and the Netherlands - concluded an underwater energy security pact for fear of sabotage, there was a swift retort from the Baltic States. On 10 April 2024, the energy ministers of Lithuania, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Germany, Latvia, Poland and Sweden met in Vilnius, Lithuania, where they signed the Vilnius Declaration, pledging to protect offshore and undersea infrastructure from activities that could threaten energy assets and supplies at risk.
