The importance of #Mentoring is the topic of this #podcast. Since I was 17 years old, I have been mentored by many life-shaping people. Apart from a two year period of time, I have been shaped by significant leaders, counselors, innovators, mystics, priests, and creators. This episode shares my time with Edward “Chip” Anderson, one of the co-creators/innovators of #CliftonStrengths. Under his mentorship, I received a unique perspective on interpretating and applying #Strengths, much of his teaching we still practice. In this episode we share three long lasting lessons I learned in apply the CliftonStrengths within our work. Dr. Linda Schubring adds many unique insights to our interpretation and application of Strengths. ✴ Mastering Leadership Communication ✴ Let’s be honest—how often do you feel like you’ve communicated something clearly, only to find out later that no one really got the message? You’re not alone. Patrick Lencioni says leaders need to act as the Chief Reminding Officer, and he’s absolutely right. Communication isn’t just part of leadership—it is leadership. In this week’s episode of the Things Leaders Do podcast, I share unusual but powerful methods to communicate effectively as a leader. These aren’t your typical “send an email and hope for the best” tactics. We’re talking about strategies that actually make an impact. 💡 What You’ll Learn: ▫ How to align every message with your organization’s key goals or pillars. ▫ Why visibility as a leader (think Town Halls and shift kick-off meetings) is everything. ▫ Practical ways to connect with your team—like video updates and casual walkabouts. ▫ The real reason repeating yourself isn’t annoying—it’s necessary. 🎙️ Ready to lead with clarity and inspire your team? Tune in now to discover how to communicate like a Chief Reminding Officer. 💬 What’s the most effective communication strategy you’ve used as a leader? Share your thoughts in the comments—I’d love to hear them! #Leadership #Communication #EffectiveLeadership #ChiefRemindingOfficer #ThingsLeadersDo #LeadershipPodcast #ColbyMorris https://lnkd.in/gvMw6Kxf

Balancing Team Chemistry and Productivity: A Leadership Perspective Article: In today’s fast-paced work environments, leaders often find themselves caught between encouraging strong team relationships and ensuring productivity stays on track. While positive team dynamics can fuel collaboration, they can also lead to distractions that impact focus and deadlines. So, how do leaders maintain this balance? On the latest Launch Point Leader podcast, we tackled this question head-on. Our listener shared a unique leadership challenge: managing a highly cohesive team that enjoys working together, but sometimes gets too caught up in socializing. Here are five key takeaways from the episode: Remind Teams of Their Purpose: Great camaraderie is built within the structure of your company’s mission. Don’t hesitate to remind the team that their relationships stem from working together toward a common goal. Create Structure: Establish clear, non-negotiable goals and deadlines. As long as these are being met, there’s flexibility for socializing. Metrics Matter: Always measure whether productivity is truly declining or if the team is simply more efficient. Sometimes, a happy team accomplishes more in less time. Refocus, Don’t Stifle: When conversations drift, gently guide the team back to work, reinforcing that work and fun can coexist but shouldn’t derail progress. “Stir the Chili”: Don’t be afraid to occasionally shake things up, even when things seem perfect. This keeps everyone sharp and prevents complacency from setting in. Balancing collaboration with focus doesn’t mean eliminating social moments, but structuring them so that they don’t hinder progress. It’s about setting the right tone, knowing when to step in, and letting the team dynamics flourish within a framework that supports productivity. Enjoying the podcast? Being a leader is not just about the role, it's about the goal. The goal is to witness the growth process of those who work under you. A great leader knows when to be a coach and when to be in command, as both are necessary in the workplace. This week’s episode of the Construction Genius Podcast features Jake Thompson. Jake is a leadership performance coach, keynote speaker, and author. Jake has spent more than a decade working with leaders and organizations worldwide on how to get better results for themselves and their teams. His motivational business workshops offer his listeners doable actions and useful tactics they can implement right away to improve performance and achieve better outcomes in their careers and personal lives. He joined us today to talk about how to shift leadership styles from commander to coach in construction.
