To honour and celebrate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people during NAIDOC Week 2024, Go-To HQ made space for a series of much-needed conversation starters in the workplace. To ‘keep the fire burning blak, loud and proud’, our soundtrack for the working week was exclusively made up of Indigenous artists. Yothu Yindi, King Stingray, Kid Laroi, Warumpi Band, and more. The team tuned into a live Q&A from Social Activist and Executive General Manager of Inclusion and Social Policy at Australian Football League, Tanya Hosch. A very candid discussion about enriching modern workplaces with the fabric of Indigenous culture (which prioritises history and connection). NAIDOC Week events and workshops, as well as Indigenous art, film and fiction, were championed across The Go-To Guide and Go-To socials as an authentic extension of the self-education our team are committed to pursuing year-round. And lastly, our senior leadership team arranged a gift for the wider team from House of Darwin; a clothing company who reinvest all profits back into social programs within remote Indigenous communities across the NT. Always was. Always will be.

🌟 Celebrating NAIDOC Week 2024: "Keep the Fire Burning! Blak, Loud and Proud" 🌟 Earlier this month, we proudly celebrated NAIDOC Week, recognising the rich history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. NAIDOC Week is an opportunity for all Australians to engage with First Nations cultures and histories, and we embraced this chance to learn and celebrate together. In honour of this significant week, we held daily events and activities which included the following Lunch-and-Learn Series and Updates: 👉 Day 1: We hosted a powerful discussion titled "Journey to Employment: Experiences and Insights from First Nations Workers." David Meyers, Director, IT&R, shared insights about NAIDOC Week and we heard inspiring stories from a First Nations employee, highlighting their resilience and success in the workforce. 👉 Day 2: We shared an update on our Reconciliation Action Plan deliverables, highlighting our progress and next steps. You can find our Innovate RAP here: https://lnkd.in/gCf7dKwB 👉 Day 3: We explored the significance of Indigenous artwork and storytelling through an engaging presentation. 👉 Day 4: We provided resources to guided meditation and relaxation techniques to support mental well-being. 👉 Day 5: We discussed "Truth Telling" and addressed insights from a recent survey, focusing on how we can better support and acknowledge Indigenous employees within our company. NAIDOC Week is not just one week of celebration; it's a time for reflection, learning, and commitment to fostering inclusivity and respect for Indigenous cultures. Together, let's continue to "Keep the fire Burning, Blak, Loud and Proud" and make a positive impact in our communities. #NAIDOC2024 #BlakLoudProud #IndigenousCulture #Inclusion #Diversity #Reconciliation #SimsLimited #WeAreSims #LifeatSims

🌟 Celebrating Juneteenth: Reflecting on Progress and Fostering Inclusive Workplaces 🌟 Tomorrow, we honor Juneteenth, a significant day in American history marking the emancipation of enslaved African Americans in 1865. It’s a time for reflection, celebration, and commitment to fostering equality and inclusivity in every aspect of our lives, including the workplace. As #recruitment and #talentacquisition professionals, we play a pivotal role in shaping diverse and inclusive environments where everyone has the opportunity to thrive. Here are a few ways we can contribute to this ongoing journey: 🔍 Evaluate Hiring Practices: Ensure our recruitment processes are free from bias and actively seek diverse talent pools. Tools like blind resume screening and structured interviews can help mitigate unconscious bias. 🤝 Promote Inclusive Culture: Advocate for diversity and inclusion initiatives within our organizations. Employee resource groups (ERGs), diversity training, and mentorship programs are great starting points. 📚 Continuous Learning: Educate ourselves on the history and challenges faced by marginalized communities. Understanding different perspectives enhances our ability to connect with candidates and colleagues. 🌐 Community Engagement: Partner with organizations and institutions that support underrepresented groups. This not only helps in finding diverse talent but also strengthens our commitment to social responsibility. Today and every day, let’s work towards a future where equality, respect, and opportunity are at the forefront of our efforts. Join us in celebrating Juneteenth and the rich diversity that strengthens our workplaces and communities. Happy Juneteenth! 🎉 Join us: https://lnkd.in/d7zgX3-f #Juneteenth #DiversityAndInclusion #TheSourceAndRecruitForum

It's NAIDOC Week, an opportunity for all Australians to engage, listen, and learn about First Nations cultures and histories. It's a great time to participate in local events, and appreciate the richness of the oldest continuous living cultures on Earth 💫🌎 In commemoration of NAIDOC Week, we've compiled some ideas about how your business can deepen your understanding of our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, this week and beyond. 🖤 Boost employee engagement by hosting a cultural immersion day, traditional storytelling sessions or film screenings that highlight indigenous culture. Partner with Indigenous representatives and groups to ensure these are culturally appropriate and delivered with accuracy and sensitivity 💛 Offer cultural awareness training for employees to deepen their understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, histories, and perspectives ❤️ Use internal communication channels to highlight NAIDOC Week activities, share educational content, and start conversations with your Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander employees about how they might like to commemorate the week Remember, once this week is through, it remains as important as ever to continue educating yourself and your team. October is Global Diversity Awareness Month, a time to recognize and celebrate the importance of diverse teams. At HAB Group, we are proud to have a team representing 20 different nationalities, reflecting our deep commitment to inclusivity. Our diverse workforce spans the globe, including Turks and Caicos, the Bahamas, Canada, the UK, France, Haiti, Jamaica, Thailand and the Philippines. Diversity in the workplace brings multiple benefits. When people from different backgrounds come together, they bring fresh ideas and new perspectives, driving creativity and innovation. This variety in thought helps us connect more authentically with our customers and find effective solutions to challenges. We find with a mix of viewpoints, our teams can avoid "groupthink," which often leads to better decision-making and problem-solving. Furthermore, when employees feel valued and included, their engagement and job satisfaction increase, boosting overall morale and retention within our many companies. At HAB Group, diversity is more than just a policy—it’s embedded in our culture. We believe that our collective experiences and backgrounds strengthen our company and make us more effective. Beyond our internal operations, we support inclusive policies and community wellbeing initiatives, striving to create positive change for both people and the planet. Yesterday - we not only had the pleasure of presenting our 3 hour Working With Neurodiversity Workshop to Air New Zealand, we also experienced the joy of presenting at an amazing event held by Aurecon, to celebrate the International Day of People with Disability. We shared the screen with the truly inspiring Clare Gibellini who had so many amazing things about accessibility and inclusion. Being at events like this where 100's of people are present is always a privilege. To be able to represent a different perspective on neurodiversity and to encourage others to see it in a more positive way is such a joy for us. We know that the more we talk about neurodiversity, in a way that isn't deficit based, the more likely we are to, over time, develop workplaces that are inclusive and accepting of neurodiversity, and when we do that: ⭐ Neurodiverse team members can harness their unique strengths and talents, and become more engaged and effective contributors. ⭐ Organizations save on recruitment and training costs by retaining skilled neurodiverse talent. and ⭐ Companies that do the mahi reap the benefits by gaining a reptuation as a progressive and attractive employer. It's a win win 😁 Thanks so much to Penny Rush Zina Abu Ali Beth Browse and Chloe Sellers for inviting into your wonderful organisation - looking forward to doing so much more together.

Equality, diversity and inclusion should never be a tick box exercise – it should be about making systemic shifts to create environments where everyone feels they belong. 🤝 Today I am off to Village Water to deliver the team's third B LONG workshop. This one is all about finding belonging and uniqueness in teamwork. These sessions are designed to create a safe space for teams to discuss often overlooked topics, helping organisations to develop enhanced pathways to inclusion. 🛣️ I wanted to share this wonderful testimonial provided by one of the Rumpus team members from our last B LONG session. Seeing how these workshops come together and deliver real impact is so rewarding. 👇 If you want to know more about B LONG, my inbox is always open 📩 #EDIworkshops #inclusionworkshops #EDItraining
